| NO RESERVE, HIGHEST BIDDER WINS! Please no 'joy bidders'. If you bid on this auction simply for entertainment, I will require a $200 compensation to cover eBay listing fees and my time.
I WILL NOT misrepresent anything I sell on eBay. To do so would only be a waste of your time and mine. I value my feedback and have made every effort to describe this car with great attention to detail. So, please bid ONLY if you are as serious about buying this classic BMW as I am in representing it. Seller’s Disclosure: It is the bidder’s responsibility to ask about anything of interest not mentioned in item description and I will answer all questions honestly. Although I describe cars to the absolute best of my ability and experience, I am a fellow car enthusiast and not a professional auto-inspector, and my description should NOT be considered a substitute for a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection). Any inspection is welcome and encouraged, and I will assist in their facilitation with potential bidder paying the cost of the inspection. All inspections must be completed before your decision to place a bid. Once you place a bid you are agreeing to purchase this 2002 as-is with all sales final and no warranties either expressed or implied. Thanks.
Please do not bid if any of the following are true: You’ve never previously owned a classic vehicle more than 20 years old; if your significant other doesn’t know you’re bidding; you’re currently intoxicated; you don’t know what ‘righty tighty, lefty loosey’ means, or if you have not read or don’t understand the meaning of the previous paragraph.
What to expect: An excellent running, 32-year-old, used BMW 2002. What not to expect: A perfect car.
1976 BMW 2002 with 119k miles showing, but odometer isn’t working. Previous owner believed that is stopped about 20k miles ago, but no way to tell. I guess the condition of the driver’s seat would suggest this is pretty close. Iconic classic BMW.
I’ve listed an identical car with much less rust for sale for a friend of mine on eBay and this car has everything that the other car needs, which is primarily interior upholstery and exterior trim. This car includes almost every small part from a completely stripped second car: Signals, lenses, emblems, trim, switches, relays, valves: water/heater system parts, engine parts, mounts, brackets, NOS clock in original Bosch box, sun visors, shocks, mirrors, reflectors, plastic console & steering column parts, interior trim, extra set of door handles and ignition switch with key and TONS more! The item number for the other car is: 110273813182
Mechanical: Starts, runs and steers like new. Four high-quality matching tires with about 80% tread. Transmission shifts flawlessly with a strong clutch, starts quickly with no hesitation and no smoke. BRAKES NEED WORK. After purchase, I drove this BMW ninety miles to my house and a couple times around town, but I was VERY strategic about leaving braking space and prepared far in advance for stops (got great MPG, by the way). I would NOT recommend anyone else attempting to drive this car home without having the brakes fixed (I’m willing to facilitate logistics, but buyer pays repair bill). Needs at least two slave cylinders. Does have some braking so the master cylinder is most likely good. Lights, including original optional Bosch foglights (with protective covers), signals, wipers, heat, gauges all working excluding the odometer. Sunroof does open and close, but would not operate too much before lubricating the manual crank system.
Suggested Uses: Either drive this car into the ground, use to restore the other car I have listed, or part out on eBay and triple your investment!
Interior: Headliner is excellent, door panels excellent, dash is excellent with NO cracks at all. Original carpet is in very good condition. Original seats are in excellent condition with only one tear at stitching and one very small wear spot on driver seat (both pictured below). Pictures should tell the rest.
Body/Paint: Body is reasonably straight, but has lots of rust at bottom of both doors, one or two of the window pillars have large bubbles, rockers are still structurally sound, but have large rust bubbles and some holes. Many other areas of rust spots here and there, but I’ve mentioned the most major ones that I found. Floors seem primarily rust-free. Shock towers, which normally rust out, are solid and rust free. I would consider the rust to place this car outside of restoration potential, but if you replaced the doors and did a quick body/paint job, I would just drive as long as the body holds up. Or…use for the purposes mentioned earlier in description.
Again, unless you plan on having me get the brakes repaired, you will need to tow or trailer this car home. Licensing is good until May of 2009.
As long as the car is paid for within 10 days, I will store the car up to 15 days for free. After 30 days, I will need to charge $25 per week for storage to motivate pickup of vehicle. Believe it or not, I had a car that was paid-for sit for 8 months before claimed! MUST be picked up by end of August.
I have experience with many shipping companies and am more than willing to assist with shipping logistics. Buyer pays shipping costs. Thanks...
