1983 323I Racecar / Track Car.
E21
I purchased the car about 9 months ago with the hopes of getting invovled in my local BMW club and take it to the track for driving school events. Unfortunately things haven't gone as planned. I'm just not able to get off the days that my club has scheduled at the tracks.
I have only put about 150miles on the car since I purchased it. This car is not for your average joe and should only be driven by people who have fast car experience. The power to weight ratio is outstanding.
It is currently registered in NYS and has plates on it. It would not pass the NYS inspection because I had slicks on the front wheels. I had the car checked out by my mechanic and got a clean bill of health. There are No leaks and you can eat off the engine. The previous owner had rebuilt the engine two years ago. He had stated that he had receipts for over 17k on the rebuild but unfortunately I did not receive them. The 2.3 liter motor was removed and a 1988 2.8 Stoker motor was transplanted. The car is ready to track / race or could be a street legal "mustang eater"
The car starts right up and has a good idle. It doesn't smoke at all. The short shift clutch shifts well with no signs of wear. There is a battery relocation kit installed so the battery is in the trunk.
The slicks that are on the front of the car (15's) need to be replaced. The 13's that are on the rear are in good condition and have about 85% life left. The 13" wheels don't fit on the front because of the big brake kit. The car is being sold with two set of wheels. 1 set of 13x6 turbine style with Hoosier street tires and one set of 15x7 basket weave with competition tires, not installed. The tires that are on the 15's need to be replaced. I have purchased a new set slicks from the Tire Rack in hopes I was going to use them. I purchased 4- Hoosier R6 225-45ZR15. The tires were heat cycled at the time of purchase. I paid just about $1000. with delivery.
The car comes with a BMWCCA log book which includes several Class wins. Most of the runs were at Sebring and Moroso.
Equiped with a 1988 2.8 stroker motor. Includes the following.
Turbo Diesel Crank, MSD crankfire ignition, Schrick 292 cam, Metric Mechanic 11:1 pistons, Accusump (3.5 Qt.), Willwood 4 piston calipers with proportioning valve, Mocal oil cooler, 390:1- 65% limited slip differential, short shift kit, close ratio steering box, Gruupe "N" suspenstion, Front strut brace, 320 turbo radiator, Cobra Monaco race seat, full cage, Two sets of rims and tires. Speedometer dosen't work but the tach does. A second USA / MPH speedo is included with the car. It is in KMH not MPH.
This car has never been wrecked, and has a few blemishes. Keep in mind this is a track car not a show car. The car has always been stored in a heated warehouse.

Car has 69xxx Kmph on the body and about 2000 since the rebuild.
The car is available for inspection in Kingston NY. 1.5 hours north of NYC. Just minutes off of exit 19 on I-87 NYS Thruway. No Joy rides, Unless you can provide BMWCCA, SCCA or similar certification.
It appears in the pictures that there is a stain on the drivers seat. There isn't. I accidently washed the car with the driver side window slightly down and sprayed it with the hose. Just clarifying a question that was asked.
The car is being sold as is where is. The buyer is resopnsible for the shipping of the vehicle. I will be happy to assist the the purchaser with loading the vehicle on a trailer or tansporter. Loading dock in availabile if needed. |
