I am selling another car for a friend who is not an ebayer. This is the fifth car I've sold for him in the past year. I asked him to give me a description of the car and his comments follow:
I purchased this 1951 Series 62 sedan from a family in Melbourne, FL. My mechanic has quit, and I am selling it and my other classic Cadillacs. Matching numbers, with a clean Tennessee title. This car is a great daily driver and a wonderful attention getter. Check out the trunk, headliner and interior, redone in Florida. The dash and visors are original and are in perfect condition, as is the black steering wheel. Glass is awesome, paint is nice but with some cracking in the laquer due to age. I’ve included a couple of shots of the worst spots in the paint: the cord showing through in the piping between the rear passenger quarter panel and rear body, and the front, passenger side door, where the paint is rough in one spot. This Caddy has NO RUST, PERIOD. The chrome is very, very nice. Doors, windows, trunk and hood close just like brand a new car. Brakes are stellar, and the original 331 motor is strong. The engine has the 2-barrel carb sold in 1951. The previous owner installed FrigiKing after-market air conditioning. This car has been converted to 12-volt (the ’51 Caddies were the LAST 6-volt models for Cadillac). The original Wonderbar radio and its power antenna work perfectly. You can drive this car home or anywhere you want. Two sets of hub-caps, both correct to 1951, the sombreros and the small center covers are included.
What does it need? The wipers are vacuum-operated. With a 12-volt system, I would replace them with the electric wipers. I did that on my ’56 Fleetwood (now sold so please do not inquire), and it made an amazing difference.
Your winning bid is a legal contract to buy, so do not bid unless you intend to follow through on your purchase. As with any used car purchase, be smart and hire a qualified appraiser or visit the car in person before you bid. This car is 58 years old and is understandably sold “as is, where is”. The car has been described honestly.
