This auction is for my 1963 Corvette convertible. I've used it as a calibration / test car in my fuel injection repair business for the last few years. I'm auctioning it in this condition hoping the buyer will be willing to come help me replace the engine, wheels, and tires with the items I already have on hand. This work will take a full day. (What better way to get to find out what you've just bought than to work on it?) If not, then I'll do the work by myself after I'm paid the deposit but before the buyer comes to pick it up. Yes, you will be able to drive it home, even cross-country. It's got both tops, an AM Wonderbar radio, power steering, power brakes, and a 4-speed. I believe it was a factory 250 or 300 hp car because of the low redline tach. The trim tag and VIN tag are the originals. The car was painted silver on the assembly line rather than the current shade of red. The interior has always been red vinyl. BODY - The quarter panels were both replaced to repair wheel flares back in the eighties. All the other body panels are assembly line originals. The red paint is single stage urethane that was shot in the late eighties. It has held up well for the last twenty years and still has a very good shine. I realize that some areas look slightly darker in the auction photos, but those are just shadows from the giant oak tree limbs overhead. INTERIOR - The dash pads and vinyl covering are factory parts without any cracks. The seat covers, carpet, and door panels (I think) are all old reproductions. The drivers seat shows some wear. The seat belts are not stock Corvette parts. The glove box door is from a '64 or '65 Corvette. There are 4 or 5 tonneau cover screw holes in the painted metal trim piece below the windshield. All the gauges work except the clock. The heater works, but is not connected to the engine in the photos. CHASSIS - This is a California car with no rust problems anywhere. I've installed a 3.70 posi rear. I'm also giving the original 3.36 peg-leg to the next owner. The Borg-Warner 4-speed is the original for this car. It works fine when warm, but is stiff going into second when cold. The clutch is a new GM HD pressure plate and disc that I installed. The steering, suspension bushings, exhaust system, brakes, shocks, u-joints, trailing arms, etc. are all in good condition. I replaced one of the engine compartment wiring harnesses, the starter, and the battery last year. The radiator was an NOS GM aluminum unit when I installed it. The hoses, belts, and steering rag joint were replaced last year too. I'm going to put new steel wheels, stock hubcaps, and new radial tires on the car before selling. ENGINE - This car had a 350 engine installed back in the late eighties. The original 327 had already disappeared long before that swap. I'm going to remove the 350 and the FI air cleaner in a few weeks to install a carbureted 327 that I had rebuilt years ago to be my stationary test engine. This replacement 327 now has a total of 20 - 30 unloaded running hours on it. It's an over-the-counter "870" block that has never been stamped. It has the 327/350 hp hydraulic cam in it with a Carter AFB carburetor. The intake is a sixties aluminum Edelbrock C4B that has been refinished by Fred Hudson. The dual snorkel air cleaner is a very nice original '63 part. FLAWS NOT MENTIONED ABOVE - The usual rain water leaks, squeaks, rattles, and groans. The windshield wiper motor won't turn on. The windshield washer squirter nozzles are in the glovebox. The jack is from a later Corvette. There is a dent in the stainless trim at the base of the passenger door window. The gauge needles are faded. The left headlight motor is slower than the right. I only have a few pieces of ignition shielding for it. There is red paint overspray on some of the weatherstripping. DOCUMENTATION - This car has a current Alabama license registration, but it has an open California title because Alabama doesn't issue titles for cars built before 1974. I have all the repair receipts from the previous owner as well as those from the work I had done (such as the engine rebuild). OPTION - If you don't want my engine, carb, and air cleaner, I'll keep them and deduct $3,000 from the selling price. I'd be glad to answer your questions by e-mail or phone.
