This is a honey of a car for any Corvair lover! A shiny, sleek, black 2 door hardtop with a custom vinyl roof and custom red and black interior with reclining bucket seats. This Corvair was restored and upgraded with a 283 Chevy V8 engine, not as a hot rod but rather as a car that looks like a Corvair Chevrolet made at the factory. The engine is a late 1950's that was completely rebuilt with .030 over new pistons, etc. The transmission is a GM 2 speed with a hydraulic clutch. The rear is an S10 pickup truck rear. The front end is stock except for bigger springs and power disc brakes. Chrome wheels set off the beautiful black paint.
As anyone knows, who knows cars, the workmanship is more important than the work itself when it comes to rebuilding a car. The person who rebuilt this car had his own automotive shop his entire adult life. He has rebuilt numberous Corvairs, other makes, and racing cars as well. He is an officer in the local Corvair Club and still has 2 Corvairs in his personal collection. This car has been driven very little since it's completion. Truly a great car that can be driven anywhere!
