This is my 1963 Chevrolet Impala and it is for sale to the highest bidder. This car has been in my family since the day it was purchased by my great aunt. After my father received it from my grandfather, he finally gave it to me after I finally received my driver’s license. I learned to drive on the Impala, just as my father had. Most of the car’s life has been spent garaged; for some time in ours and for a great deal of time at my great aunt’s residence. In fact, there are UNDER 96,000 original miles on the vehicle, making it a youthful engine. I’ve been diligent on having the fluids changed regularly and I’d be willing to bet that, with continued good care, the engine will get at least 250,000 miles. Under the hood, though, there is a 283 cubic inch engine with a V8 double barrel and it all sounds very nice. The transmission is a 2-speed automatic hydro glide; essentially there are only 2 driving gears and believe it or not, it will get up and GO! The interior is all together for the most part; the driver side for panel needs some work and some of the trim needs to be laid back down. I think some new carpet would look really nice as well. The exterior, however, is great shape. The driver side front quarter panel may need some work, but that is the only major concern. The molding and chrome all appear to be in great shape. I got a paint job on it a few years ago and it held pretty well; there is virtually no rust coming through anywhere, just a small spot on the bottom left side. The trunk bottom has held together pretty good too. I put some of that speckle spray done once or twice before and it works really well. When I was driving the Impala, it was my school car. I started driving it at high school and then started going back and forth from college, 500 mile round trip. I only say this because I am confident it has the ability to make long journeys. In fact, once you hit the highway, it is the best car to be driving; real smooth, real comfortable. Just crank down all the windows, open the vents and you got the best summer car for driving around. You can even drive through a hurricane with the windows done because of the awesome window gutters. This car is in great condition for its age, but with the right effort, this could be a REALLY COOL CAR! I had a great time with it and I’m ready to hand it down to someone else, even though my old man is against it. Please, if you have any questions whatsoever, contact me and I will work as quickly as possible to help. Yall have a great day. |
