1979 Monte Carlo
5 liter, 4 barrel, automatic, air, radio, cruise
This vehicle was bought new by my father-in-law. He was a body man and mechanic by trade and took good care of his vehicles. He passed on a month ago at the age of 85, and wanted the car to go to his son, but he doesn’t want it so we are selling it for him. The odometer reads 15,389. I presume it has turned over once. He was most proud of the fact that it was one of only 500 made. (see picture) He carried this little placard with him in his wallet for the last few years of his life. Maybe this can be checked out by the VIN which is 1Z37H9K525168. The car is in good shape with some defects that can be expected for a vehicle of this age. The tires look almost new and there is no noticeable exhaust smoke. To the best of our knowledge it is all stock and has never been wrecked. He drove it right up to his last days. The car starts right up and drives off. I don’t know why it has mustang wheel covers on it, but they are NOT included. I will attempt to list the defects as I see them. THIS IS BY NO MEANS A COMPLETE LIST, NOR IS IT INTENDED TO BE. THE SALE IS AS IS, WHERE IS!!
INTERIOR:
- The seats are good, the only tear I noticed is in the driver’s headrest.
- The headliner has many small cuts in it, basically all over, but is not sagging at all.
- There are at least two cracks in the top of the dash.
- The transmission gear indicator is not working.
EXTERIOR:
- There is some oxidation on the hood.
- There is some rust showing up on the bottom of the rear side windows, and around the rear fender wells.
- It is hard to turn the cylinder to open the trunk. I think this because the little nodes are worn off the key.
MECHANICAL:
The only defect that I have noticed is that it needs a new exhaust system.
Please contact me with any questions and I will do my best to answer them. I want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. E-mail me at rantr@ourtownusa.net.
