This Datsun is my prize possession, and parting with it breaks my heart. I am selling it solely because I just came into possession of another sports car, one that I can drive daily. I can't afford to keep both the new car and the Datsun. It is a 1967 model 1600, that was rebuilt and restroked by a previous owner to a 2000. It is a four-speed, manual transmission. I do not know when this rebuild occurred, and I also do not know how many miles are on the rebuild. I have owned it since 2004, and it has not needed much work, save the installation of an electronic ignition (new, originally designed to go inside an 280ZX), the replacement of the manifold (with a used, albeit holeless, manifold), the replacement of the clock (which still doesn't keep time properly), and replacement of the battery (about 3 years ago) and the speedometer. I also replaced the voltage-drop regulator, which for the layperson means that the gas gauge and the temperature gauge now work like new. Someone backed into the right front fender in early 2005. This turned out to be a blessing, because when I brought it to the body shop, in addition to repairing the fender they also repainted the hood, which prior to this minor accident had paint bubbles. The body contains very little rust, which can be found in the driver's side door by the vent window. It comes with both a removable hard top and a soft top. The paint on the trunk has some light spots of discoloration, due to water damage. It also has a cd player, with removable Bose speakers. Save for the time I needed to replace the battery, this car has started on the first try every single time I drove it. Nothing will match it on two-lane roads, where the short wheelbase allows for one to hardly slow down on a turn. I have also just registered the car. |
