If you are considering buying an early Datsun Z car you may want to look close at this original example. One lady owner from new who turned 85 years old the day before I bought her car. In California since new and always garaged. Absolutely no rust ever. It is in exceptional original condition. All original paint with the exception of the lift gate from what I can see. BODY: All original and completely rust free. (see floor photo) Paint is in great shape. No evidence of major collision damage. Front valance ( the panel below bumper) has been dented. The passenger side door had a minor incident and was dented. Most of it was pushed out but it would require more work to be corrected. Some chips and nicks as to be expected on an original paint 36 year old car. Overall very nice appearance that has gotten many compliments.
INTERIOR: All stock and in good condition. Shows careful use. Carpet is new; a correct replacement kit from a Z car specialist. Front seats have been redone correctly at some time in the past and look great. Dash board has three cracks over the gauges area as most 240Z’s have. Shifter has a small, incorrect clamp to keep the handle tight. Door panels have some sun damage to the top edges. Original steering wheel perfect. Overall very good for age.
MECHANICAL: Overall excellent, drives and handles fantastic. The tightest and nicest riding Z car I have ever driven. All is in working order with exception of the heater. (needs heater core replaced) Clean and tidy engine bay. Found receipt from 1984 @ 84,278 miles for engine rebuild by Walnut Creek Datsun. That is about 45K miles ago. Runs extremely well and performs as it should. Ready to enjoy.
