| 1955 Desoto Firedome hard top. Owned by a family for over thirty years. This desoto has been a well taken care of. Repainted in 1991 and driven very little since then. Has keep the original miles to just 78,826. I have gone through the fuel system, flushed the cooling system, oil change, gear oil, tranny fluid and a complete brake job, with new wheel cylinders, shoes, and power brake boster and master cylinder.rebuilt carb, and new 24 in glass packs gives it that classic hot rod sound. Starts easy, drives nice, shifts good, with good power out of the hemi engine. A compression test showed 90 pounds in all of the cylinders. When first starting will blow a small puff of smoke. Valve seals is my guess. Have a complete gasket set for the motor, if someone wanted to replace the valve seals. I would not worry about it at this time, very minor. All of the gauges work good, windows roll up and down fine, no chips or cracks in any of the glass. Radio does not work. Dash lights, headlights and tail lights work as well as the heater. Most of the interior is original with the seats and carpet being redone. Headliner is coming down above the back window and shows some water stains. Could be replaced if a person wanted to. Have lots of extra parts that go with the car. Fenders, hood, steering wheel, power steering coloum and pump, trim, visior etc, etc. Over all it is a very nice car, that I would call a driver. It is not flawless by any means. But shows as a nice original driver. Would no be afraid to jump in this car and drive accross country.I have 190 pictures showing all aspects of the car trunk floor, rockers, door bottoms etc, etc. That I can email to you as per your request. If you are looking for a 55 desoto, this is a good car that has not been messed with and will not brake the bank. |
