It is a street rod on a Lincoln chassis. NO RESERVE!
Please note the California tag on the car is just for show.
My car has maintained the original appearance of a 1940 DeSoto Convertible with some mild, custom alterations.
Body is on a 1969 Lincoln Continential frame - chassis #3757926.
Powered by a Ford 460 V8 365hp engine.
There are power brakes (disc up front), power windows, power steering and 2-speed electric windshield wipers. Transmission is C-6 with a 9-inch rearend.
The tires were purchased from Coker Tire Co. 14-inch front and 15-inch rear with 2.25-inch whitewalls. Larger wheels in the rear give that rake look of other 50s style street rods. The solid chrome wheels were tire mounted, balanced and shipped along with 1940 Deluxe Babymoon caps.
You can drive this car daily or for weekend cruises, a parade car, if you wish, but whatever your choice you can bid with confidence that this car will turn heads where ever it goes. It has no bad habits and holds the road well and brakes fine.
The floor and trunk pans have been replaced with metal pans ( not fiberglass) and makes for a very solid component.
The tan on tan top is made of Stayfast canvas which included top pads. The top operates manually and was just installed on 3/9/09 in addition to the carpet, the back well and trunk.
Both front and rear bumpers and door handles have been replated. Recently installed are Mopar 6-inch amber fog lights, in addition to a new 95 amp. SE alternator and a new battery plus new cowl mirrors, sun visors and MonroeMatic shocks. It has a great sound system made by Pioneer. It has CD features with a remote.
I am hoping to sell this vehicle to someone who really understands value, and the cost to build a vehicle like this today. Bid with confidence this just might be one of the best finds on eBay!
Minor items needed: A working speedometer and fuel tank gauge. Side glass windows have cracks.
