DeSoto 1957 Desoto Firedome 4 dr Sedan Yel/White HEMI Nice! AC

>You are looking at a beautifully restored 1957 Desoto Firedome 4-Dr Sedan. This was not a body off restoration, but nicely done.

This wonderful piece of automotive Americana has only 63,631 miles and appears to have been well taken care of over the years. This original painted classic utilizes the Sunlit Yellow and Frost White colors to create a sharp four-door sedan with the green vinyl/cloth interior.

Under the hood is the very desirable 341 cu in 2 bbl carb Hemi engine (270 hp) is coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission with push button controls on the left side of the dash. One item very rare to this make and model is the factory installed air conditioning system. While the system is fully in tact, the blower fan does not blow up to full strength.

The car starts right up and runs very well and operates very smoothly down the highway with the help of the new (for the year) Torsion-Aire front suspension.

The dual exhaust system was done as original and all new as of 2007…sounds great! Listen and watch videos.

The interior is excellent, yet not perfect as the dash material is a little loose on the right side and the drivers arm rest needs to be replaced as the material is starting to come apart…a very easy fix. There also appears to be some kind of small stain on the passenger side. The rest of the interior is very nice and very clean.

The radio does come on but reception is quite poor and the clock is in tact, but does not operate.

The outside of the car was repainted the original colors some five years ago. Original colors meaning correct for that year as the color code indicates the car was all yellow from the factory, but many of the cars of that era were two tone as this one has been done. The paint work was very good and the fit and finish and alignment of panels and door seams is excellent. There are two very small scratches on the bottom of the white area on the driver’s side back door. (See pics) Easily repairable as it is in the white area.

The chrome on the car is awesome. The back tail light housings and headlight surrounds are near perfect. Both chrome bumpers and all of the rest of the chrome is excellent with one exception. The lower chrome strip on the passenger side quarter panel has a few ripples, but could be repaired as it is made of stainless steel. Anyone that knows about stainless will know this is attainable and certainly better than not having the piece at all.

The tires, shocks and suspension bits and pieces are in great shape and ready for the open highway.

The overall car is very nice and would make a fine addition to anyone’s collection if not a great start to one.

The extra parts shown such as chrome tail light sections, headlight buckets, tail light lenses, numerous service manuals (many of which are worth at least $50 each!) and a nice array of magazine clippings are all included in the auction.

For the 1957 Desoto FIREDOME package, the following accessories were included…..: heater, white sidewall tires, dual exhaust, ash tray, light in trunk, light clock, windshield washer, hand brake signal, outside rear view mirror, prismatic mirror, vanity mirror and air foam cushion rear.
