This is a restored 1952 Dodge M37 3/4 ton Cargo Carrier. This is sometimes referred to as a "Power Wagon" which is the civilian version that Dodge introduced after WWII. I purchased this vehicle from a nearby fire department in 2000 and spent the next 5 years doing a frame off restoration to honor those that have served, those that are serving, and those who made the supreme sacrifice. I didn't serve in the military so this is my way of honoring those that have in ALL branches. I have taken it off-road, driven it in parades, and displayed at car shows. I have had a lot of fun with this truck and it's time to let someone else own a piece of history.
Features are: 230 cu. in. 6 cyl engine, 4 spd manual trans, 5.83 gears front and rear, 4WD, 24 Volt waterproof electrical system.
The front-end and bed were taken off and the frame sandblasted and repainted. The original wheels were also removed, sandblasted and repainted. NATO tread tires were mounted instead of the original military tread for better traction in the rain on paved surfaces. All 4 wheel cylinders were replaced as well as the brake lines, vent lines, fuel lines, and wiring harness. The original front clip was replaced with rust-free fenders and hood and is included. The bed was also replaced as the original was too far gone for me to use. The interior canvas was replaced as well as the canvas top. There is some fading of the tan dye in the canvas seats and top and the original olive drab is showing but still in great condition. Locking hubs were installed and the original drive flanges are included. The vacuum fuel pump was replaced with an electrical 24 volt pump. The vacuum wipers were replaced with 24 volt electrical ones as well. I have added a .50 caliber replica machine gun as well as troop seats.
The truck has developed a cracked driver windshield which cost approximately $180 to replace through various suppliers. There is a small tear in the canvas on the driver side grommet which you can see in the photos. Turn signals have also been installed but are not working for some reason as well as the fuel gauge. The engine, transmission, transfer case are original and have not had any work done to them except fluid replacement. The rear end differential was rebuilt last year. I have a clear Texas title for this vehicle and can drive it legally on the highway. The laws may vary in your state. I have specialty license plates on it as well as state inspection just to avoid any hassle with the law.
