You are bidding on one 1965 Dodge Coronet 440 4-door sedan with a 273 V8 and automatic transmission. This is one of my project cars I need to sell because of my surgically repaired back going bad again. I can't work on cars for awhile and I would hate to watch this guy sit and rot in my yard.
Here's the deal:
(by the way, it's still running! Great! I haven't had a chance to really get into it...)
I bought this from the 2nd owner with the intent to fully restore it. The inside is all done, but whoever did the upholstery didn't put the foam back in the seats, so it's kinda cusshy. The original carpet is in great condition. I would have restored the dash panel, not that it's trashed, but it needs detailing. I was also going to replace the new headliner, as it has some slight rust stains that came before I bought it. I have since redone the exterior gutters over the doors and leaks are fixed. I also redid the channels at the bottom of the front windshield and rear window. I was in the process of removing all the chrome pieces, which I stored in the trunk with all the hardware, to get a thorough paint job. By the way, the body is pretty dang straight, no big dents, just some bondo from the previous owner, and minor scratches. The next step was to pull the motor and trans so the paint guy could shoot the engine compartment when he did the exterior, and that's where I'm at right now. I have purchased a ton of stuff I was to put on or in this car to finish it, which is also included in the auction, check the pics. There's a complete rear axle set to replace the stock 2:78 gears and one-wheel-drive, haha. All bearings, a new 3.55:1 ring and pinion, & a Sure-Grip drive cluster unit. the transmission was to be rebuilt by a local shop, it never got done. The motor was to be boiled, fluxed, and bored .60 over, and that's not done. But I have all the parts to do it. Existing on the motor now, and having less than 300 miles on the components are: Chrome valve covers and air cleaner, Holley 4-bbl 600cfm double-pumper carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold that was shaved to match the shaved stock heads, which had .030 removed to up the compression slightly. I opened up the exhaust ports quite a bit and smoothed the intakes a little bit. Stock valves and springs remain, the heads were also boiled, fluxed, and new valve guides installed. The valve train has been modified from hydraulic to solid, with moly pushrods and hypo lifters by Comp Cams. The camshaft is Comp Cams, at 274 advertised duration and .480 lift. there's a new timing set (gears and chain), and a new water pump. The ignition was replaced by a MSD billet electronic distributor, Blaster coil, and MSD 6A unit with Accel wires. Oil pump has been replaced with a Melling Hi-Volume unit. I put this in when I dropped the pan to do a quicky-fix on the connecting rod bearings. Everything on the crank looked great. An electric fuel pump has been put in. The headers are Hedman full-length. Also included is a set of custom-made Ross aluminum-forged pistons at .060 over stock bore (flat-top), with pins and keepers, Sealed Power rings to match, and Eagle H-beam connecting rods at stock length. The Radiator has been done, new belts and hoses on everything under the hood. All 4 tires have about 1,000 miles on them, except the right-rear wheel is quite worn from "slippage". Also included is a replacement speedometer panel, as the old one has a problem with the speedometer needle bouncing. 4 spinner-style knock-off type really nice hubcaps, and probably more stuff I forgot about. There's a reserve price that is reasonable, but if you want to get your hands on a life-size model car to build, here you go! You are welcome to come by and take a look if you're local and start it up, it sounds AWESOME! Just email me for an appointment. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
