"The Ferrari Mondial is one of the few Four-seater Exotic cars. Designed by famous Master Pininfarina, the Mondial styling has been flavored by Ferrari enthusiasts from 1980 - 1993 with only minimal external changes. -----The designed Mondial 8 was debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in 1980 as a replacement for the 308 models. It used the same 2927cc quad-cam V8 mounted transversely behind the seats. The US version produced 205 bhp while the other versions produced 214 bhp. The transmission was borrowed from their F1 efforts and featured a transverse mounted gearbox which lowered the drive-line by five inches.--This was the first Ferrari with power assisted rack-and-pinion steerings. Air-conditioning was standard with climate control for both the driver and passenger" The Ferrari Mondial provides the best of both worlds. It provides the incredible driving experience that a Ferrari has to offer with the pleasure of having a back seat so that two other lucky motorists can enjoy the Ferrari driving experience. The engine is mounted transversely which offers optimal weight distribution for incredible handling. The 2.9 liter V-8 produced 205 H.P. Top speed was achieved at 137 mph. with 1/4 mile taking just 16.5 seconds. These are serious numbers to be sure, but even more remarkable for the era which the car was produced.
The car featured is the deep quintessential"Rosso Corsa" (Ferrari Red) that is the Ferrari trademark on their race cars. As can be seen by the photos, the paint which appears to be original, is in great shape for its age. It still has a great luster free of any significant flaws. The black leather interior appears to be original as well. The leather showing only minor wear. It is difficult to describe the experience of driving one of these automobiles. "Driving the Mondial is like driving a go cart. The steering is super tight. Any flinch of the wheel and the car will steer that direction. No question who is in control - you are. Any mistake made is definately you, unfortunately. It is comfortable to drive but you always know that you are in control so it take a little more attention than a super soft riding Lincoln.
Going across RR tracks at angles sends a fair amount of feedback through the steering wheel. For any driving, there is a lot of feedback and sound returned to the driver. With the "cab forward" style of the Mondial, the front wheel wells are very close to the driver and the change in sound of the tires on the pavement is very apparent and with time, one can hear how much effort the tires are placing and how much grip they have to the road. A very different experience than a Mercedes where auditory cues are masked.
The audio feedback of driving from the front tires and the engine behind you is quite accelerating. There is no question the racing heritage and purpose of this car. To hear the 7,000+ RPM of 8 cylinders screaming behind you is an experience that just can't be matched"
