The rarest
Classic Italian micro-mini car!!
Folks, this is a 1 family owned Southern California original 1959 Fiat 500 Jolly with
only 4721 original miles on it!!! This is the American version Jolly, that is even rarer
than the standard European Jolly!! The American version Jolly has the
larger 'bugeye' headlights (US luminosity standards were different) and the
speedometer is in mph. The vehicle engine number on this car exactly
matches the engine number shown on the original VIN plate, verifying originality
and mileage. You will not find a better Jolly out there than this one.
This car has been immaculately restored. This car was owned by a family in Southern California who drove it rarely for
pleasure. When I got the car there were a few age related items that
needed attention, this car was basically rust free and completely
straight. This is the best early Jolly I have ever run
across. The following items are brand new:
New
professionally done wicker seats
New
carpet
New
paint (Fiat color Rosso Corallo Scuro #135)
New
tires together with new white wall port-wall inserts
New
hubcaps
New
Sunbrella fabric surrey top
Newly
rechromed bumpers
New
windshield & windshield rubber
New
front Fiat emblem
New
hood chrome strip and lock
New
Ghia emblems
New
rear view mirror
New
tail light lenses
New
license plate lamp assembly
New
wiper blades
New
brake shoes on all hubs
New
master brake cylinder
Newly
rebuilt wheel brake cylinders
New
accelerator cable
New
heater/blower hoses
New
plugs
New
air filter
New
wood gear shift knob
In addition to all of the new items, the engine was
completely gone through and the carburetor completely cleaned. The surrey
top frame, the headlight surrounds, the side bars, the grab bar, the original
aluminum front emblem 'whiskers' and the oil cap were professionally
polished. Electrical switches and the wiper motor were tested and
contacts cleaned. Prior to installing the carpet, a complete application
of POR was done to keep the vehicle rust free, a rust inhibitor undercoating
was added to the underbody as well to keep the vehicle rust free. A small
inline fuel filter was installed to help protect the carb/engine. The new
wicker seats have been lightly treated with lemon oil per the instructions of
the wicker restorers, Los Angeles
based Cane and Basket Supply. Just like all Fiat 500s, this car has a 2
cylinder air cooled engine mounted in the rear, the gas tank is in the front of
the car under the hood. As far as the original paint, it appears that the
original color was red, but there is a possibility it was white. There
was a layer of white under the red, but it appeared that it might be a
primer. The car was painted using the color Fiat Rosso Corallo Scuro,
#135, which is a correct color for the 1957-1960 Fiat 500 Jollys.
Just to give you an idea of high end value on these
cars a Jolly 600 went for $81,000 at Barrett Jackson in 2007. Last year a
1961 Fiat 500 Jolly went at RM Auctions for $71,000, which was a European
version Jolly, generally worth less than the American version. See http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=FL08&CarID=r062&Currency=
The car runs, drives, and shifts
great. The car does come with a spare tire (not brand
new). This car is nearly a concours car. Basically some
engine chrome and some minor detailing are all that would seem to be
required on this car. This is a very small chip on the upper edge of the
windshield, the windshield is brand new, however it came with the small
chip. It was the last new Jolly windshield locatable so I used
it. There are some tinted Jolly windshields out there, but they are
not original.
The Fiat Jolly used the
frame and engine of the Fiat 500, with Ghia designing and building the unique
coachwork. A little historical background on the Jolly model can be found
at

brief history and technical discussion on the Fiat 500s in general go to http://www.carsfromitaly.net/fiat/index.html click on

This car
is great fun to drive and always gets attention!
The car has a valid California title certificate, titled in my
name.
I am a licensed and bonded car
dealer and vintage car restorer in the State of Utah, Piccione's, #5869, which
is important if you are financing the car through your bank, as dealer issued
sales typically get lower interest rates than person to person sales.
Financing is also available through eBay.
Buyer pays for shipping (I can
help arrange transport if you like, I have some cheap connections for various parts
of the country). I highly recommend closed carrier
transport, because of the surrey top and wicker seats, putting this
vehicle on an open carrier opens up the risk of drippage from other
vehicles and wind damage.
Payment may be by certified bank
check or money order, by wire transfer to bank account, or by loan check or
personal check once cleared. Paypal is only acceptable through verified
accounts for the initial deposit only. The buyer will submit a 5% of purchase
price deposit within 72 hours of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle
by PayPal or other verifiable payment method unless this requirement is waived
by the seller after the auction end. Buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance
due within 7 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must
be completed before delivery of the vehicle. Based on the age of the car I
cannot warrant odometer readings. Buyer is responsible (if applicable) for all
state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the
state that the vehicle will be registered in. Vehicle is sold as is and does
not have warranty.
