This is a 1963 Ford
Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop. It is definitely entertaining to drive, and gets a
lot of “thumbs-up” on the road. I bought the car 2
years ago from a man who said he bought it from a sales lot in Arizona, but I
cannot verify this. The vehicle has a current Pennsylvania state
inspection. The motor and transmission were originally a 260 V8 and 2-speed automatic, now a 302 4-barrel V8 from a 1978 Lincoln and a C4 3-speed
automatic transmission. The brakes and steering are non-power. The paint is adequate,
but might benefit from being buffed out. The body steel looks original. The
frame and torque boxes are in good condition. In the two years I have owned the
car, I have replaced many parts, including: The rubber hose section of the fuel
tank filler neck; the fuel level sending unit; the rear brake shoes; the rear
brake cylinders; the differential (now a 3.40 traction-lock); the driveshaft;
universal joints; dual mufflers and tailpipes; all three brake hoses; rear seal
of the transmission; transmission dipstick tube; the brake master cylinder was
changed to a dual-bowl type to separate the front and rear brake circuits; new spark plugs and wires; rotor; changed the distributor from points
to electronic trigger; new distributor vacuum advance unit; dual horns; new radiator;
new electric radiator fan and automatic temperature control unit; new battery; battery
cables; starter relay; rebuilt starter; new Holley 4-barrel carburetor with
vacuum secondary and electric choke; new front shock absorbers; new strut bushings;
new sway arm end bushings. There are other parts which I have purchased but not
installed and are included in the Sale: New door lock and ignition switch
cylinders; new shift collar for the column shifter; rebuilt windshield wiper
motor; Ford Racing aluminum valve covers; PCV valve; larger air cleaner;
B&M Megashifter ratchet-type floor shifter; Lokar transmission kickdown
cable kit; B&M Transpak kit; used instrument cluster and under-dash wiring
harness; lot of used parts to convert car to power steering; heavy-duty front
and rear sway bar kit. Also included are an
original Owners Manual, two pieces of Sales Literature, the original 3.00 open differential, and four
original wheels and tires with Sport Coupe wheel covers. The vehicle sale will be as-is with no warranties expressed
or implied. I have the clear Pennsylvania title in hand and will transfer it when the sale price is paid in full. |
