I am selling my 1970 GMC 2500. I bought this in 2001 and the previous owner had done a minor restoration including paint and interior work. The truck has the original engine and automatic transmission and drives great. I'm selling this because I now have a new 3/4 truck and don't need this one. Below are the details:
- 402 Big Block (Also known as a 396 because Chevrolet changed the displacement but not the name in 1970). Runs very strong and holds good oil pressure but does leak oil. I changed the valve cover gaskets which helped but it does still leak. I'm really not sure where it is leaking but I believe the front and rear seals both need to be replaced.
- Edelbrock 650 CFM Thunder Series Off Road Carburetor with Manual Choke. I bought this for another application but the original Q-Jet started running rough so I installed it on this truck instead.
- TH400 Three Speed Automatic. Shifts well and does not leak.
- Original Air Conditioning System does not currently work. The compressor has a squeaking in the front end so I removed the belt. Someone did an R134A conversion in the past. Before pulling the compressor belt the a/c would start very cold then get warm. I never really looked into this so I don't know what it would take to fix it.
- 3/4 ton with a later 14 bolt one ton SRW axle. It is very low geared and will pull my 8k boat and trailer without any issues.
- Three Fuel Tanks - Camper Specials came with a 22 Gallon tank behind the seat and the optional two side tanks. I have not used the side tanks as they need to be cleaned before use.
- The tires have 90% tread left. I have the rear wheels/tires to match the front but use the taller tires due the low gear ratio.
- The paint has a few chips/dings but is overall in very good condition. The bed has a spray in bedliner with a few nicks as well. The engine compartment is as it came from the factory so it's somewhat dirty and could use a cleanup.
