This is a very nice example of a previously owned vehicle but is likely not in perfect condition. If you are looking for a car that is 100 percent perfect, you need to purchase a new car. If you are interested in a very good used car, please consider this car.
Up for bid is a 1984 Jaguar XJS V12 that has been in storage for years. The original owner died and the car has been unused for many years. The California registration expired in 2001 and was not used after that. The winning bidder gets a clean California title as well as a death certificate as it was sold by probate.
This is a very clean California car but should be looked at as a restoration project. This classic 12 cylinder sports coupe has been unused for many years and will need some reconditioning both mechanical and cosmetic. It is a very solid example and is a California car from San Francisco. This is a very nice car that was the top of the line but is not a new car and will need some restoration.
Please do not assume you are buying a perfect car. We are offering it at a very low reserve and it will sell to the last bidder. The owner died and the car needs to sell. I am not at all interested in what this car needs after it is sold all I can do is explain it as I see it. The last Jaguar XJS I sold was very nice. Much newer and much nicer than this car. The winning bidder has given me several laundry lists of what his new Jag that he bought from me needs. I need to sell this car and I am selling it at a very good price.
This would be an ideal candidate for the guy who wants to restore a Jaguar XJ12 and can do a lot of the work himself. This car has great bones it just needs attention. It is a running and driving California car. It fires right up. The 5.3 litre V12 seems to run ok. I have driven this car only about 12 miles. I did drive it at freeway speeds and had no problem. The engine for sure will need some tweaking. It seems to have no leaks that are visable. The car has some hesitation and will, if nothing else, need a tune up. The heavy duty GM Turbo 400 tranmission shofts smooth in every gear. This is in my opinion the best overall automatic tranmission ever made. This is the tranny a big block Chevelle or 442 would of had. This is the finest automatic ever made and that is why Jaguar as well as Rolls Royce used the Turbo 400 in both there 12 cylinders as well as there torque 8 cylinders. This one shifts great. The rear end seem very tight. This car would be an ideal canidate for a Chevrolet V8 swap. This is one of the nicest riding cars ever made and is one of the nicest cars to drive with a V8. I am sorry to all of those Jaguar purist out there who feel a Jaguar needs a Jaguar engine to be a true Jaguar its that I have had both and in my opinion one of these cars with about 400 Chevy horsepower is a great way to go.
Either way this is a solid and clean body that shows no sign of any previous damage or previous damage repair. It is a very straght black car that looks to have the original paint it left the factory with 24 years ago. The car has always been garaged and the chrome is near perfect.
The interior is will need some restoration. The dash is very nice but all of the guages are in/op. It could be something simple like a fuse I am not sure. The speedo and tach are in/op as well as the other guages in the cluster. The drivers seat has some tears at the seams as well as the passenger seat. The rear seat leather is quite nice. The carpet is gone on the drivers side and passenger side but have carpeted floor mats. The headliner and door panels are quite nice for the age.
This is a original California Jaguar that was the very top of the Jaguar line in 1984. This is a world class premium luxury sports car that will need some restoration but is a very solid example for a car that is being sold as a restoration project.
The bidding starts at only one dollar and the car is being sold with a very low reserve price.
Please understand this is your auction. Bid what you want and PLEASE ASK any questions before you bid. Don't assume you are buying a show car that you are going to get in and drive accross the country. This is a running and driving car but nees some work. I would say you will need to have this transported.
This does not pass California Emissions test in its present condition and cannot be sold to a California bidder as we cannot transfer ownership to a California resident without an emission test. California Bidders you will not get title in your name or be able to transfer the title with out the California smog test. I will not sell this to a California bidder so please don't bid unless you are out of state.

I can guarantee I have done my best to describe every physical and internal flaw that I am aware of. However, I don't claim to have gone over every inch of the car inside and out but I have tried to describe the major points as accurately as we know of at the time of the auction. Please remember that this is a used vehicle, and as with any used vehicle, it may have or develop issues or problems at any time. The vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, and with no warranty.
Please don't have unreasonable expectations that this is a new car. All information provided in this ad is based on the condition of the car at the time the ad was written.

We know of no reason why you couldn't drive it anywhere, but of course we can not make any guarantee. Please be advised that any vehicle over ten years old is exempt from mileage reporting due to age.

Please do not email with requests for the reserve. The reserve price will not change what you can afford to pay for the car. It would also not be fair to the other bidders on the car. Bid what you feel comfortable paying for the car. Any requests for reserve price will be ignored.
VEHICLE SHIPPING AND PICKUP
Vehicles must be picked up within 10 days of the close of the auction. We are available by appointment for vehicle pick up during normal weekday business hours unless you make special arrangements. Our weekends are our family time.
If you need a vehicle shipped, there are numerous shipping companies. DAS shippers has a link through Ebay motors. You can get an online quote instantly. The pick up zip code would be 94556. All shipping charges are to be paid by buyer. If you choose DAS, we can transport your vehicle to the DAS depot in Hayward for an additional $100.00. DAS will charge approximately $200.00 to pick it up at our door.
VEHICLE REGISTRATION, SALES TAX, SMOG, ETC.
We are a licensed California auto dealer. The state requires that if you are out of state and plan on coming here to pick up your vehicle, California law REQUIRES the buyer to pay sales tax and obtain a one day permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles. This is not my law but the State Board of Equalization. It can be found in Publication 52, May 2005, on the State Board of Equalization website. Here is a quote from it as it pertains to out of state buyers:
"For a purchaser to qualify for the exclusion from use tax described above, title (ownership) and possession of the vehicle or vessel must transfer tot he purchaser outside of California. When a purchaser exercises control over the vehicle or vessel in California prior to the planned out-of-state delivery, ownership transfers to the purchaser in California. Therefore, if any person other than the seller, or an agent acting on behalf of the seller, delivers the vehicle or vessel from California to the purchaser at an out-of-state location, ownership transfers to the purchaser in California, and California use tax applies. For example, if a purchaser asks a friend or hires a common carrier to deliver the property from California to himself at any out-of-state location, use tax applies."
To obtain clearance of the use tax and I quote again:
"Shipping receipts showing the date of delivery to a shipping agent and the date the property was delivered to the owner (if the vehicle or vessel was shipped). the recepts should include information that clearly describes the vehicle or vessel, such as the vehicle's identification number (VIN#) or license plate number, or the vessel's California registration number (CF#) or hull identification number (HIN#). If the recepts do not provide adequate information, you may need to provide additional documentation. Also, a vehicle purchaser may use from BOE-448, Statement of Delivery Outside California, to support the fact that the vehicle was delivered outside this sate."
If you are a California resident, we collect sales tax, registration fee, documenation fee, and a $50.00 smog inspection fee. We then provide you with registration in the window so you can legally drive the vehicle until your title and license plates arrive in the mail.
If you are an out of state buyer, you will need to pay a $55.00 documentation fee in addition to the price of the vehicle.
PAYMENT INFORMATION
Please follow the rules of the auction after it is completed regarding deposit and full payment deadlines. Anyone not following auction rules will be reported to Ebay and appropriate feedback will be left. There is a clear title on the vehicle. A non refundable $500 deposit must be sent within 24 hours of close of auction via Paypal, money order or cashier's check. Full payment needs to be received within 5 days of close of auction and must be paid via cash, cashier's check, or money order. If you reside outside the continental US you must pay via wire transfer. Please don't bid if you are unable to follow the rules.
We do not finance vehicles. You mush have your funds readily available at the end of the auction for payment. Your bid is a binding contract to purchase a vehicle.
We do not accept credit cards.
Due to an increase in Deadbeat bidders, we must insist on a nonrefundable down payment deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. Failure to leave the downpayment will result in appropriate negative feedback and I will turn the case over the Ebay Dealers Development and let them handle the situation. Simply put....don't bid unless you are prepared to follow the terms of the auction.
VEHICLE REGISTRATION
There is a clear title on the car. All vehicles that are sold to California buyers that legally require a smog inspection will include the smog unless otherwise stated in the auction. Any California buyer will be responsible for all state sales tax, license and documentation fees. Out of state buyers will need to contact their own DMV office for registration and transfer information. We will collect a $55.00 documentation fee from out of state buyers.

Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is due within 5 days of auction end via bank wire, cashier's check or cash. If no contact is made within 24 hours we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Most banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles older than 1995 or with more than 100K miles. Make sure if financing that your financial institution accepts the year and miles of this vehicle before bidding. Please arrange financing prior to bidding.
