What you are bidding on is a modified and very trail ready 1980 CJ-5 Jeep in very good condition. This Jeep has not been abused or rock crawled. I am 70 years old and I do not enjoy tearing up what I own. I have used this Jeep to tow behind my motor home for the last 13 years. I am 6'5", with a fresh knee replacement and I can no longer comfortably use this Jeep; so, regretfully .....I must sell.
Nearly every component and system of this Jeep has been overhauled or upgraded. Originally I bought this vehicle in California 13 years ago in totally stock condition. Since then, here is the list of the work done most all by myself. I am a retired metal fabricator and auto shop instructor for over 42 years, no hokey fixes or mods, no bailing wire and duct tape here. I hate to see it go.

This conversion kit cost $1800, far more beefy than stock.

I have already bought a stock Rubicon to replace, and believe this Jeep will match or outperform the stock Rubicon on any surface. With the NP435 transmission in first gear at 6.7 to 1, and low range, the 12:50 X 33's are only turning about 8 rpm at idle, or 0.78 mph. Very crawly! This Jeep will do it all, mud, sand, rocks, tight twisty trails you name it. She has excellent maneuverability, gearing, ground clearance, low center of gravity and is very quick on the street.
Some problems with the Jeep that I know of. The heater is currently not hooked up electrically (I'm always in mild weather).
The turn signals are not hooked up. There is paint flaking on the windshield frame and on the grill (see pictures).
Rust is minimal as this was a California based Jeep, it never has seen been to the midwest except during summer, so no salted roads. The worst spot is the usual CJ trouble spot of just under the stamped 'Jeep' logo on the sides of the body.
SHIPPING
The Jeep is currently in Southern California in Santa Paula (70 miles north of Los Angeles) at my winter home, but will not smog in California due to aftermarket equipment on engine. It is registered in Kansas, at my summer home. Since I am about to head to Kansas, I can deliver this Jeep anywhere along the interstates between here and Kansas, I-15, I-70, I-40, I-35, for 45 cents a mile. Anywhere else, buyer is responsible for pick up. I am open to the idea of a mid-way rendevous along the above mention route. Shoot me an Email, I am sure we can work something out.
The tow bar goes with it that has automatic brakes on the Jeep, it uses a standard 2" ball hitch.
PAYMENT (NO PAYPAL)
I will accept a Money Order or a Cashiers Check.
I will accept cash on delivery if you pick up, or with a $1000 deposit via Money Order or Cashiers Check before hand if I bring the Jeep to you. I can not accept PayPal any longer, they simply get too large of a cut (and it keeps getting bigger). Please serious bidders only. You can see by my feedback rating that I have a 100% record of straightforward, fair and honest auctions for over 7 years on Ebay. I am a stand up guy, I expect the same from bidders.
Again, serious bids only please.
Any questions you might have feel free to write me a question, I will get back to you quickly and I love to help. Good luck bidding gentlemen, a ton of money and work has gone into this very capable Jeep.
