Hi, up for auction is our 1969 Land Rover Series IIA 88". The history of the Land Rover goes back to it's introduction in 1948. The series I Land Rovers roamed around for about a decade with great success, but by the late 1950's it was clear that changes had to be made if it was to remain the Top Dog!! Hence, the Land Rover Series II was launched in 1958 sporting a larger petro engine and new styling. The new engine was a 2.2861 to be exact and produced 52 horse power at 4000 rpm and 101 foot pounds of torque at 1500 rpm. New synchromesh on the 3rd and 4th gear. In 1961 the Series II was renamed to the Series IIA. In 1969 (the year of this Land Rover) saw a change that only occured for six months of production. The headlamps of the Land Rover were moved from the grill area to the wings, Land Rover saw the need for a redesign, but decided to "use up" the last of the earlier style wings making this Land Rover a six month only body style. When you see this front end of a Land Rover, you know it is a 1969!! Just a bit of History for you.
So, here we have a 1969 Land Rover Series IIA. One owner last 25 years, California car, always babied and always garaged. It was restored ten years ago, which included the body and top stripped down to bare aluminum, prepped with Interlux 417A and 418B epoxy surfacing and fairing compound and then sprayed with US Paints Awl-Grip which is Sikkens a division of Interlux. This is said to be the best paint on the market.
The Land Rover looks and runs excellent, everything works, including the dome light, reverse lights, even the horn works!!. Everything is sound, motor, which is the 225 cu.in. This is a petro motor. (which means gasoline) The transmission, transfer case, front and rear diffs, all solid and very dependable. I drive this Land Rover. The interior is very clean and presentable and seen in the pictures, still has the rear jump seats, all window slide open with ease, no broken or cracked glass, still has all original keys, wipers work as does the radio and heater, vents open and close easily, has original equipment Warn locking hubs, 3 original locations to mount spare tire, looks best on hood of course!! Factory Land Rover Towing Mount with 2 inch ball, Land Rover factory original!! Not aftermarket!! Transmission shifts smooth, Rover runs awesome, has AC Delco RV/Marine battery, I have extra paint for both body and top that go with the Rover as well as spare filters, gaskets, belts and tune-up parts. The Land Rover still has original jack and lug wrench. This is a classic Land Rover and one heck of a iconic classic 4x4, and with that comes the classic usual Land Rover characteristics that of which they like to mark their spot. These are prone to leaking a bit of oil and this one is no different. Brakes are in great shape, stops very well, has a ton of meat on the tires, and this 1969 Land Rover Series IIA is ready to go out and play.
