The 1952 300 Adenauer car is a very nice example that I am proud to present and represent. As you may already know, the 300 models are some of the most desired post war Mercedes Benz Vintage cars. Not only are they highly desirable and sought after, by all standards they also qualify as investment grade automobiles whose value is bound to experience continuous appreciation for many years to come. This was the post war model that re-established Mercedes Benz prominence in the luxury car market. The car was nicknamed the Adenauer, after Chancellor Konrad Adenauer of Germany, who used the 300 car as the car of choice. The 300 cars were hand built specially for Kings, Presidents, Heads of States, Chancellors and those who could afford.
This particular example was given a complete cosmetic restoration in 2001 and it still looks very good. The solid car was re-painted in the original color and the interior was re-done with new leather upholstery and carpet. This is a numbers matching car, in the sense that the VIN number and the engine number match the chassis number of the car, as indicated on the factory data card. Mechanically this car runs and drives very well, as expected of a car with 52,200 original miles. The engine has very good oil pressure under all driving condition, the original Solex carburetors were replaced with a set of newer type carburetors that work well, but for the sakes of originality; the original set that's in very good rebuild-able condition will be shipped with the car, along with the original air filter housing. This slight modification is nothing unusual on some of these vintage cars; just the same way you will see some 190sl cars with Webber carburetors. The fact is, the car runs very well with the newer set, and it can be enjoyed indefinitely with them on.
The cooling system of this car is in good working order with no over-heating problem, the engine run at a very good temperature, the charging system also works well. The Steering System of this car is of the conventional type for the vintage with no power assist, needles to say this car steers and tracks very well at all driving speeds, with no unusual noises or clunks that will suggest worn steering components. I have driven this car for more than 200 miles since the pictures were taken, so I can attest to the performance. Suspension- the shocks and springs are in very good condition as expected of a car with less than 52,000 miles, there is no sagging; even the electric load leveler that raises the rear suspension up or down as needed works as designed to. The central lubrication system on this car works well and there is no obvious sign of any leak around the connections and lines. Braking system works as designed, the brakes adequately stop the car without any noticeable veering to one side or the other, when applied, the parking brake is also in good order.
Lights and electrical accessories: All lightings along with all electrical accessories work as they should including: the head and tail light assemblies, interior dome lights, fog lights, wipers, load leveler, horn, fan or heater blower etc.
Body and chassis: This car has undergone a complete professional paint job. The car is a very solid car, all structural components of the body are in very solid condition, including: the frame; floor; box sections and rocker panels and all body panels. All the doors open and close very well, the windows roll up and down as they should, all glass are in good condition with no hazing or discoloration. Cosmetically and structurally, the car is “a nice and solid car”. The weather strips and rubber seals are in excellent condition, providing a tight seal for the interior of the car. Chrome Trims - the chrome bumpers and trims on this car have been re-chromed and they look very nice, all interior and exterior handles are beautiful with no evidence of pitting, the chrome knobs for the different switches in the car are in excellent condition, the head light beauty rings are beautiful and the front grille looks very nice. All pieces are properly fitted on the car and the look nice.
Interior: The interior of this car is very nice, as pictured, the interior shows well even though it was re-done in 2001. The original interior wood trims were also completely re-finished and they all fit back together very well. The carpeting was also replaced and all pieces still look good and they fit very well.
Conclusion: This is a great opportunity to own a nice Adenauer that is mechanically sound, and can be driven anywhere. I have driven this car both on local roads and on highways, I can confidently say that the driving experiences were pleasurable under all conditions.
