The"BUY IT NOW" price is $4600. This is an "EXCELLENT" deal. Recent work alone totals over $7,000. Not to mention price paid for the car itself. I was originally asking $7000. First I must say that it is unfortunate that I have to sell this car. I wanted to have it re-painted but there has been a change in plans and I am selling her. There has been over $10,000 invested in this car (money invested + price paid). No Kidding! The retail NADA price for this car can be over $14,000 if it is in really good shape. This one is not perfect by any means, but it is well on it's way. I need to sell which is why I am setting one very low "Buy It Now" price. This way I don't have to haggle. It will be a very, very fair price for one ebayer who clicks the "Buy It Now".
CONDITION:
This car runs and starts just wonderfully. The automatic transmission shifts as it should. I get her up over 100mph on the highway with ease. Suspension is soft and smooth without rattles or creeks. The power windows and power sunroof work excellent, all with strong motors. The AC has recently been converted over to R134a at a large expense ($1591).
Yes, it's true!!! The engine was replaced with a rebuilt one, just over 1000 miles ago by a certified proffesional mechanic shop that specializes in these types of vehicles ($2198). I trust this car to go anywhere. Along with the purchase of this vehicle I am including reciepts for work done over the last 2 years amounting to around $7000!. Yes, most of the hard work is done.
EXTERIOR
- The Chrome: Close to perfect, the bumpers and grill can be used as a mirror. See the pictures just to see how nice the chrome really is.
- Trim: the rubber is very solid and unfaded. The metal trim is in real good condition with no pitting.
- Paint: The paint is really clean but the clear coat has faded on the roof and hood because the paint is 32 years young. To be perfect it would need to be repainted, but it is still a very attractive car as it is. Again see the pictures.
- Body: Near perfect without rust in the wheel wells or trunk. There is a slight indentation on the passenger side door but it is hard to notice. The underbody is in great shape as is the exhaust system. I can take additional pictures of any areas you may have concerns with.
- Tires are in very good condition with plenty of tread.
INTERIOR:
- The interior trim is in great shape with no cracks on the dashboard or steering wheel.
- The woodgrain on the dash in in great shape but does display a couple of minor stress cracks (2) which are typical in just about all of these cars if the woodgrain is original. By comparison to other cars I've seen, the wood is an 8.5 out of 10.
- Original AM/FM Radio works as well as the cassette player. The Stereo light comes on when you tune in to an FM Station. Original speakers work as well but the front to rear fader is a little touchy. Personally I was planning on some new Harmon Kardon Speakers.
- All gages work. The odometer does not work after the engine was changed.
- The clock keeps perfect time.
- The headliner does not sag.
- The leather seats do not have tears and look pretty good. The front seat had 1 crease/tear, but that has been repaired.
- The rear seat foam stuffing has deteriorated somewhat but doesn't really affect the appearance. (this is very typical of the leather upholstery used by Mercedes in the 70"s). This means the seats are not very firm like when they were new.
- Knobs and buttons are all in place and original.
- The door trim is in excellent condition on all four.
- The wool carpeting is nice and soft.
- THERE MAY BE A FEW THINGS THAT I AM OVERLOOKING BUT I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO NAME THE MAIN DETAILS.

For the record this car is in very nice condition but is not perfect. The body and mechanics are very solid. Please ask any and all questions before purchasing this vehicle. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. I can assist with some low cost options that I have used in ythe past when buying cars on ebay. I require a $500 deposit through Paypal within 48 hrs of auction close. The payment is due in full within a week. I would prefer cash but would take a certified bank check but would not release the car until it clears.
