This is a 1960 Mercedes Benz 220S.
I don't have any idea what the mileage is, it says 11162, or how well the engine runs. My Dad passed away a year ago and I do know that the car was running because he was always tinkering with it. He only drove it around the neighborhood, so I do know that it runs. I don't have a clue how to start it. In fact, I had to have the neighbor come help me figure out how to open the hood. It has sat for a year now since he passed away, so the tires have lost some air and have sunk a little in the drive... it's a mucky driveway. As far as I can tell, the original parts are there. The back drivers side light casing is broken, but there are parts in the trunk. The hub caps are different colors though. My dad took the wood off of the windows and was going to refinish them, but now they are laying in the back seat. The seats are not in very good condition and the headliner is coming loose. The original - I think it is! - radio is in the trunk along with a bunch of parts. I have the original keys and book also. There is a lot of rust on the top of the car, but I didn't see any around the bottom as I would have expected. The rust is mostly in the paint. He kept a tarp on it with bungy cords. There are no cracked or broken windows, and I couldn't find any dings or dents on the body although on the front grill there is a small ding about 1 inch long on the center seam. There are lots of scratches in the paint.
The plates on the car are from California - 1989. He was going to wait to get it taged after he had it restored. I don't know why???
I really don't know anything about cars, so when you ask questions, please be patient with me.
You are buying the car "AS IS" since I can't tell you any specifics. We only have one mechanic around here that specifically works on Mercedes and I can't afford him.
You will have to pick up the car or make arrangements for shipping. I don't have a clue how to do that either!
I took quite a few photos and would be glad to take more specific pics if you need them.
Thanks for bearing with me. This was a very hard decision for me and my sister. The car was his "baby" and it's like letting go of our dad, but we just couldn't see keeping the car to only have it deteriorate any more than it has. We hope that someone who has as great an interest as he did will get the car and finish what he started.
