This was my husband's grandmother's car that she left him. She originally bought it up at a New Jersey dealership that is still in business today! When she bought this car up in NJ, she drove it down to North Port FL to keep it there as her "beach" car, where she kept it in a garage when she wasn't going to the beach! We have a file folder (that will go with the car) of all of the services that have been done to this car from the beginning to the recent time of 2 years ago. We drove the car approximately 100 miles to where it is now in Naples FL.
This 1972 Comet is a rare for many reasons: It has factory AC, never came with a radio, has the original jack and REAL spare tire in the trunk! The inside of this car looks almost showroom quality! The seats hardly look used in front or back.
The following description of this 1972 Comet is described the best way it can be. We are not car dealers or mechanics or collectors if there might be something that was missed or overlooked or something we never knew about to check, we are not liable in any way. This 1972 Comet is sold as it with no refunds.
The awesome features on this 1972 Comet: has the original strong running 6 cylinder 200 Cubic Inch motor producing 120 Horsepower engine, power sterring, extremely low mileage, hardly used interior, considered a FL car, all glass original and not cracked, all seat belts intact, window cranks present, and climate control and light knobs present, all inside lights like dashboard and dome work, all exterior lights front and back work, has original gas cap plus a locking gas cap too. Will come with Original Chilton Comet repair & tune-up manual and original owners manual.
This 1972 Comet starts even though it has been sitting still for about 2 years. It's been moved a couple times for better access to our garage and things like that. It goes smoothly into gears without sputtering.
Originally my husband and I were going to fix it up but health, time and money are the bigger more important issues. So our loss is your really BIG gain!
What issues or problems this 1972 Comet has: Rear bumpers have surface rust that is not through (yet), the whole car body needs to be completely sanded down to the bare metal and re-painted and sealed, pictured are two locations of bubble rust spots where you open the back passenger doors there is the same spot at both locations, there is light rust on the front bumper rubber covered metal brackets, it will need a whole exhaust system or at least a new muffler, a new battery with new battery clamps, (my husband's grandmother was a rather big woman) so the front seat driver side spring is sprung and will need replacing- the seat is fine, but the underspring is sprung, it has the original drum brakes which should be changed to the new style disc brakes, the AC blows but will need the freon serviced, will need an oil change, a new radiator (or a sealer) and 4 new tires. Also pictured is one crack on the hard front dashboard over the fuel gauge.
For complete safety sake, this 1972 Comet should be towed on a flat bed to it's new owner's destination.
