| 1969 Ford Mercury Cougar XR7
 1969 Ford Mercury Cougar XR7
| The Mercury Cougar was introduced in 1967 as the more upscale version of the Ford Mustang. It had more mature styling and upscale interior appointments and rode on a three inch longer wheelbase than the Mustang. Yet despite its greater emphasis on luxury than performance, the Mercury Cougar still managed to make its mark on the American street scene. This 1969 model is in remarkable shape, it has been preserved and is in incredible condition, I am sure very few out there in this shape. The car is powered by the highly desirable 390 V8 rated 320 bhp, this car is fast . This car was purchased by y dear friend Marcelo for his wife just to go to local shows. He purchased this car in California from the original owner, car is rust free, bondo free. Marcelo ordered have the "original" paint stripped and professionally repainted base coat/ clear coat, put brand new vinyl top and many other improvements. Seats are original!!! Car is so beautiful and nice, look at the photos and judge for yourself You are looking at a 1969 Mercury C This what Marcelo wrote for this listing: This Cougar is not your usual Cougar. What makes it unusual is the big block 390 under the hood and the original 52,000+ miles. The car was purchased from the original owner in California with the original paint, vinyl roof and leather interior. This car belongs to a customer who purchased it for his wife to take to the local shows. Unfortunately, she has changed her mind and the car has to go. The car was painted the original color about a year ago and the vinyl top was replaced with a factory correct top. As the pictures show, the car is rust free and straight. All the bright work is either new (eyebrow moldings, hood and trunk moldings, etc) or re-chromed (bumpers). This is a beautiful unmolested example that has been freshened up to do justice to the care it received through out the years. As you can see the seat, dash, door panels and headliner are immaculate. The AM-FM radio is the original and works well. The only thing the interior needs is the left door panel elbow rest and two of the pull handle attachment covers (two are in the center console and have not been attached). The steering wheel is a rimblow and needs the horn installed. Other than that the wheel is in good shape. . . but not perfect. The car has the tilt away steering wheel. The engine is the original 390 4bbl 320 HP power plant. To the best of our knowledge it is unmolested. The current owner has done nothing to it other than start it. The air works although it doesn't feel as cold as it should. However this is South Florida and these late 60's airs just don't do very well in 90+ degree weather. It probably is nothing more than low in freon. Things done to the car recently: replaced the starter, selonoid, ignition switch, gas tank and fuel pick-up / sending unit. The vehicle is equipped with the low fuel warning light but unfortunately they don't make the replacement unit for this set up so the warning light feature does not work. The carburetor (FOMOCO) was rebuilt and by the but i am not happy how it's working. But don't misunderstand, the car has gobs of power and works well. The transmission shifts well and is untouched (to the best of our knowledge). The same goes for the rear-end. The works work perfectly. The car stops on a dime and straight. This car came equipped with the same drivetrain as the Mach 1. It's the best of both worlds. . . . the power of the Mach and the luxury of a big car. |

          | This is a 37 year old car, even if it looks fantastic keep in mind is old school. Miles were told to be original, and if they are not honestly hard to believe. As any other older collectible some things may have wear, A/C for instance work, but as many muscle cars does not blow as cold as a new Lexus. Headlights vacuum system is weak, needs help to open the headlights. Other miscellaneous might need attention, but as far I could see car is in outstanding shape, please contact us for more info. | This car wont last!
