1952 MGTD parked in the mid to late 50s by a College professor building a home and starting a family. I purchased the car in mid 1999 and have stored it indoors in a climate controlled garage since 2001. The car is complete with everything except for an air filter housing. The hand crank is still attached to the back of the seat. The engine turns freely, the parking brake works fine. There is no rust or rot other than surface rust anywhere on the car. All of the wood is in excellent condition. Cars can be restored over and over but they are only original once. In my opinion this car does not need a frame off restoration, a cosmetic and mechanical refresh and it remains original. The odometer reads 14,267 I have no way of knowing if this is actual, the previous owner's widow believed it to be. Sports Car Market Magazine 2009 price guide lists the low/high price range to be 20K/28K with an investment grade of B (the scale goes from A to F) I will be happy to send specific pictures to any interested buyer. It does still have all Lucas "King of the Road" brass headlamps and fender lamps (not the cheapo replacements) the original owners manual / shop manual and a very cool old moss motors catalog. The antique TD toy car is included as well. Any interested buyer is welcome to come inspect the car or hire a local british car tech to do so. I have lifts at my home garage and welcome any inquiries. On Nov-05-09 at 18:12:37 PST, seller added the following information:The front fenders have been "Bobbed" see new photo, email me if you want more photos or specific photos. There is an old Tar top battery in the car that looks great, but I doubt will take a charge. Thanks for all the great E-mails, if you have a question please ask. I intended to add lots of photos, I have not figured out how to delete old ones or exceed 24. One E-mail claims the car is a 1951 for the Aug 1951 prod date, could be, the Texas title is 1952. I do regret selling the car, but at 48 years old I have accepted the likelyhood that I will not live long enough to complete all of my projects, and the ones that go real fast are my favorites! Thanks, DJ On Nov-05-09 at 18:28:44 PST, seller added the following information:It is real dusty, yep. When I first got the car I pressure washed it and started cleaning it and realized that this may not be the smartest thing to do. With Wood being part of the vehicle construction I decided that keeping H20 off of the vehicle would be a good thing, also spraying a metal protector (Amsoil MP) on all surfaces would not be a bad thing as well. The reason it is not sprayed down with something that makes the car look shiny is, it is what it is. DJ |
