The 1951 MG TD was designed with the American market not the British market in mind. The TC set for export to North America were already equipped with bumpers, which the domestic cars did not need. To make them more suitable for the American Market Left Hand drive was available on the TD which was never an option on the preceding models. Additionally, independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering and some chassis elements were adapted from the 1250 cc Y type Saloon. It was felt that these augmentations were better suited for American highway speeds, and road conditions. However, the wire wheels, which defined the concept of a sports car were dispensed with for the solid disc wheels which were cheaper. As brought to market in January 1950, the MG TD joined the Jaguar XK120 series as the icon of sports cars. What we have here is a beautiful example of a 1951 MG TD. The car looks to be basicly original, unrestored, correct and all there. The top is a bit tired and will soon need to be replaced. The interior is stock and in good condition.. The color combination is stunning. The body is straight with no obvious accident damage. The paint is good but not perfect with a few small chips. This classic car runs and drives. Buy this highly collectible car and you will be buying a piece of British automotive history not to mention a great investment. Shipping is available to every corner of the globe. We offer ocean shipping to the port in Antwerpen and Rotterdam from our showroom from around $800.00 USD. Ocean shipping to these ports takes around five weeks. Customs clearance, loading blocking and local transportation are extra.

Shipping prices vary depending on vehicle size; shipping insurance is extra and recommended. Ocean shipping can usually be paid upon vehicle arrival. We also can arrange truck shipment anywhere in US or Canada.

Whether the car is going to Europe or New York, we will handle all the details for you, delivering the car right to our door.

Terms of Sale Overview

We reserve the right to end this listing at anytime should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. The following terms of sale apply to all of our auctions.

Payment Terms:

The successful high bidder will submit a $1,000 non-refundable deposit within 2 business days of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. Buyer agrees to pay remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 5 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle.

Cash (in person), certified check, bank transfers, or 3rd-party financing.

Fees and Taxes:

Out of state buyers are responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered.
