Yes, this did sell last week, but unfortunately the buyer flaked out, so those that are serious about the Nash get a second opportunity to own the Metropolitan, enjoy!!!
Hi, and thanks for checking out my auction. I'd like to give you a quick history overview of the Nash Metropolitan. The Metropolitan was designed and engineered by Nash in 1950 (but later merged with Hudson into American Motors Corp.) The Metropolitan was built by Fisher & Ludlow Ltd. of Birmington England. They offered and produced two body styles: a 2 door hardtop and a 2 door convertible. The early Metropolitans had a 1200cc power plant manufactured by Austin Company, England, but later Metropolitans saw a up graded power plant going from the 1200cc to a 1500cc motor which was the Austin A-50. This was the same motor seen in the original Austin Healey and MGB. The exterior of the Metro's featured two-tone paint job's. The Metropolitan was manufactured from 1954 thru 1962. The car was built for the American market and all of the 94,986 Metro's produced were sold in the US and Canada. This was the first time in automotive history that a car was designed in America and built in another country, England, for resale solely in United States and Canada.
So, here we have a very clean solid original 1958 Nash Metropolitan in original paint and yes, the interior is 100% original, seats, door panels, head liner near flawless. The Metro has only logged 57,600 miles and would explain how clean and solid the car is. Everything works as it should ie, lights, signals radio, heater, wipers, no broken or cracked glass, windows roll up and down with ease, nothing broken and nothing missing!! If you look closely at the left rear corner, you can see the old dealership decal from Acme Auto Sales, Yuma, Arizona, they were a Hudson/Nash/AMC Dealership in the 1950's The Metropolitan is currently registered and I have a clean California title in hand. I drive the car with no issues or problems, get's thumbs up every where we go. It runs well, all numbers matching car with the 1500cc Austin A-50 motor, transmission shifts smooth, and motor and transmission does not leak a drop of oil!! Brand new tires, brand new complete clutch assembly, and new complete brake job, all parts purchased from Metropolitan Pit Stop, and installed at a professional auto shop. This a great piece of American history, the Metropolitan is fun to drive, turns heads and is a great conversation piece at the local drive-in.
