This 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Coupe has to be one of the most unusual and desirable 1977 442 Cutlass available anywhere for sale. This car has 27,749 miles and equipped with a factory 5 speed manual transmission!
The car is very striking in appearance with Firethorn Red exterior with White Vinyl Top and White 442 Graphics. Options on the car are documented by a copy of the original dealer invoice and include the LV8 260 CI engine, M75 Five Speed Manual Transmission, GU2 code 2.73 Ratio Rear Axle, N72 Super Stock Wheels, W29 442 Appearance and Handling Package, A51 Bucket Seats, C09 Vinyl Rooftop, TA5 Compaticolor Firethorn Red/White Interior, AK1 Deluxe Seat Belts, B93 Door Edge Moldings, D35 Sport Mirrors, N34 Custom 4 Spoke Steering Wheel and U58 AM-FM Stereo Radio.
The condition of this car can best be described as a car in a time capsule! The car is nearly new in condition and presentation. The tires and battery have been changed on this car however everything else is very original.
Under the hood is the original 260 Oldsmobile V8 engine. The engine has been detailed to original condition. Everything appears correct including the air cleaner, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, carburetor, fan, water pump, fuel pump, fuel line, radiator, fan shroud, radiator support, brake booster, master cylinder, inner fenders, wiring, under-hood insulation and more. The engine starts easily with the choke working properly. The 5 speed transmission shifts properly and still has all the correct linkage and shifter. The handling package is included with the 442 options and includes the special front and rear sway bars and other suspension upgrades. The cars runs and drives excellent as you would expect for a car with 27K miles. Everything on the car works properly including all options.
The exterior of the car is stunning with the correct Firethorn Red lacquer paint and 442 stripping and graphics. The vinyl top is in superb condition. All the glass in the car is the original LOF date codes glass. The front and rear bumpers are excellent. The front and rear bumper fillers are original and excellent. The stainless steel trim on the car is very nice. All of the weather-stripping on this car is original GM and in nice condition. The emissions stickers and door jamb VIN stickers are present and in excellent condition. The condition of the paint is superb for GM lacquer paint. The underside of this car was treated with Ziebart when this car was new. Ziebart is a rust inhibiting treatment sold in the 1970s and 1980s by new car dealers. The underside of this car is excellent with no rust. The inside of the trunk is completely original with the original trunk mat, jack and original spare tire.
The interior of this car is nothing short of superb and very original. The dash pad and dash are completely original and beautiful! The instruments are crisp and clear. The steering wheel has perfect grain. The door panels and seat covers are superb as is the original carpet and headliner. The rear package tray is in beautiful condition.
This car was owned by a lady for 27 years. She purchased the car from the original selling dealer.
