"If a run-of-the-mill machine is all it takes to light you up, you're in luck. You have hundreds to choose from.
If, on the other hand, you're after something as different and individual as you are, you're looking at it."
So read the ad copy for the new 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado. Now is your chance to own one.
This no reserve auction is for a clean Southern Calfornia Toronado. It was purchased brand new by a Seattle doctor from Dewey-Griffin Olds-Cadillac-GMC in December of 1967 and spent its entire life here in the sunny California desert. The protecto plate, original owner's manual and service records dating back to the 70's are still with the car. It is registered, insured and titled to me. I drive the car daily.
The car is finished in the original Cinnamon Bronze Metallic color (M code). It has the optional vinyl roof in Buckskin color (code 7). The interior is in superb condition with no rips or tears anywhere. The dash has no cracks, the carpet is nice. Interior is appointed with the 6 way power vinyl Strato bench seat finished in (code88) Buckskin to match the vinyl roof which is also in good condition with no bubbling or peeling. Other options include power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning (needs charging), tilt and telescopic steering column, power trunk lid, am/fm stereo, bi-phonic rear speaker, convenience light group. Hideaway headlights function properly.
Power train is the 375 horsepower 455 cubic inch V-8 with 10.25:1 compression, connected to the front wheel drive Turbo Hydramatic 425 transmission. Extremely innovative and powerful for 1968. The engine runs smooth, transmission shifts as designed, brakes stop straight and easily, tires are great. All glass is in good condition, all windows go up and down. Spare tire and original jack are in place.
This car is Southern California clean, meaning no rust. The floors are solid, the trunk is solid, door bottoms are excellent. The quarter panel drains work as well as both door drains so nothing is plugged up to retain leaves, sand, etc. Both doors close solidly with no sag.
With 93,000 miles on the odometer this car is not perfect. Some things need attention. The paint on the hood is faded after so many years in the California sun. There are a few chips and scrapes, some chrome is a little dull, but for 41 years of age this car has had a good life with caring owners. It should be a pleasure for anyone to drive and enjoy as they give attention to needed items, keep up the maintanance and watch this car's value increase.
Car is available for inspection during auction's run. All questions will be answered promptly and posted here on the listing. Transaction will be handled in a gentlemanly fashion. I accept PayPal or cash payment upon pick up or cash in person. Winning bidder please pay for the car within 7 days of auction's end. Shipping/pick up is Buyer's responsibility.
Good Luck!
