Vehicle Description

The good news:

This is a real 442 not a clone, Olds 442 Coupe.  Original factory color "Bitter Sweet", with new Pearl white interior front bench seat with black trim and new black carpet and mats.  It has matching white vinyl top and white 442 pin strips.  Car is a low option car with column shift TH400 automatic with 327 rearend, full bench seat and A/C, Custom-Sport Steering Wheel and AM/FM Radio and Dual Sport mirrors.  It sports body colored Super Stock II wheels.  Car was a one owner car with 54,000 original miles when I aquired it.  I have put about 1000 miles on it.  I am the second owner.  Car was bought new in Wilmington, NC at Rippy Cadillac/Olds.  This car sat unused for many years.  Engine, Breaks, and Transmission have been serviced and inspected as needed and repaired or rebuilt as needed.  This car needs a home and to be loved.  I brought it back from the edge and it needs to be finished.  I have too many toys and it must go.

Included is the original window sticker and bill of sale.  Original Owner info packet/manual and all rebuild/repair and parts/mechanical receipts.  I also have the correct 1971 Olds Cutless/F85/442 shop manual and original 1971 Olds Cutless/F85/442 sales brocure that goes with the car.  I have a full complete wheel and tire for a spare that is matched to the ones on the car and is also included.

Engine is a correct for the car 1971 442 455 Rocket Olds engine with matching numbers.  The 400TH trans is correct and matching numbers, it has been rebuilt and serviced.  Both have been rebuilt with less than 1000 miles on them since rebuild.  The Olds block and "C" heads are not matching mumbers but all other parts are.  Heads are from a 1969 ("C Heads") Olds 400 442.  The 455 has been rebuilt to just over stock specs (bored .030 over).

This is an original A/C car but A/C has been removed and can be easily reinstalled.  A new Summit fuel cell gas tank is in the trunk.  Car has upgraded Electronic ignition under the stock rotor cap, new fuel pump, new belts and hoses and new fuel lines.  The car tracks straight and true and rides smooth.  Engine runs smooth and burns zero oil.  The tires have very little wear on them.

The Big Block Olds Rocket 455 engine sports Hi pro Edelbrok performer intake, with matching 750 cfm Edelbrok Carb, Edelbrok cam and Roller Rockers, Dynomax headers with Flowmaster mufflers.  It sounds really mean when idling with cam and flowmasters.  The original Q-Jet carb, original intake manifod and original exhaust manifolds are included.  The car was repainted several years ago and looks pretty good.  Lots of spare parts and extras are included.

The 455 starts up on the first try.  This 442 can be driven anywhere and will do so without worries or break downs.  I can drive it in 90+ degree  temps in Southeast City traffic without over heating.  Runs smooth and is fast.  Rides very smooth and handles and stops well.  Interior is 99% complete and looks nice with the Pearl White seats and Black Carpet.

Bad news:

As I said above I no longer have the original A/C, or gas tank.  Someone talked me into a fuel cell and it works fine but it is not factory correct.  The numbers do not match on the Engine block and heads.  Some rust is trying to form under the paint on the lower doors and front hood area and on the leading edges of the trunk lid.  Nothing major but to be perfect, it needs to be fixed.  Car could use some body work and a repaint to be a really sweet show car.  Also the driver side hood hinge has come away from the hood due to rust.  This is more of a pain but hood still closes and opens.  The interior is not complete and needs both visors and rear view mirror installed along with a few trim part related to the headliner,  (These items are included).  Head liner is new but not installed correctly, and rear tray shelf is missing(not included).  Other wise a very nice solid clean car with a lot of curb apeal.

I have not had the time to finish this car but it would not take much to finish it.  If you have the time, this car could be a knockout!
