| 1972 OPEL GT
Body- This body is stock, no flairs/ wings, or other additions.....
There was some rust on the driver’s qtr panel, I had it cut off, and
new metal welded in. The car is now rust free. Belly pan is straight,
and the battery box is rust free as well. The car was painted in
2005.
The color is a metallic grey/silver, with a white racing stripe. The
car looks great on the road, and gets lots of looks where ever I park
it. There is a little rubbing on the headlights when they flip, just need some alignment.
Engine-
I built this motor according to some popular specs I found on the
internet. 2.0L displacement, big valves (Chev 1.72 intake/1.5 exhast),
ISKY combo CAM,
pistons, rotating assembly were balanced professionally at a race
shop. This motor is one nice & tight machine, with tons of POWER!
I ported and welded up the aluminum intake, and fitted at new Weber 38
DGAS from OPEL GT SOURCE. This car will move...Great oil pressure
& cooling, and never comes close to overheating.
Transmission/clutch- Stock, transmission drips sometimes...pretty standard for the old 4 speeds.
Interior-
The dash has some black vinyl on it for now. I put 2 black leather seats from a 70s Porsche
911. They look great, and are period correct. They have better
function than the original buckets, and they are leather. They pax
seat has smaller rips in it that can be fixed, but I didn't mind, so I
left them alone. There is new black loop carpet installed as well. I
have not put the headliner in, but will include the vinyl at the sale.
All the instruments work, with the exception of the clock. The
blinkers, and flashers are functional, but intermittent. The
headlights and brake lights work as well (it is a driver!).
MISC-
I went through the brakes a few years ago, put new lines in, new master
cylinder. There is a newer battery that has a 2 more years on the
warranty. I do not have the wipers installed, because I do not drive
it in the winter, or rain. I will include them. I also put a new tire on
the front driver’s side. All the tires have lots of tread left on the
stock 13" wheels.
This
car is an absolute BLAST to drive here in CA. If you have a twisty
road near you, this car is for you! For a car that is 37 years old, it
is in great shape!.....and since this car is a driver, you could drive
it home.
