Best of Show Automotive is proud to offer what may be the rarest 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe in existence! You are looking at the ONE and ONLY 1970 Gran Coupe manufactured with Burnt Tan Metallic Paint (FT6), Tan interior (T5), and the too cool Gator Grain Vinyl Top (V1G).
When's the last time you saw a REAL Gator Grain Top car? Like the Mod Top A body cars, the Gator Grain Top could only have come from Mopar, and it could only have come during that period of automotive history where anything and everything went!
Not only is this an ultra-rare E body car, it's also a real 383, 4 speed car, with a date code correct 383 engine, and its original transmission. And, to top it off, it's flawlessly ground-up restored using original and NOS parts.
Let's start with the documentation for this rare beast. First, there is the ORIGINAL factory build sheet, found behind the rear seat. Second, there is the ORIGINAL door VIN sticker, removed and tucked away for safekeeping when the car was stripped. Last, there is a comprehensive Galen Govier report, which identifies how unique this Gran Coupe truly is. This is an absolute numbers matching car, with the VIN # properly stamped on the cowl, radiator support, door tag, dash tag, and original fender tag.
Options on this Barracuda Gran Coupe include: Center Console; Courtesy Lights; Overhead Console; Front Bucket Seats; Tachometer; Trip Odometer; Wood Grain Package; Dual Exhaust; Fog Lamps; Metallic Paint; Gator Grain Top; Performance Hood with Lock Pins, and; Rallye Wheels.
To restore this rare Barracuda, it was completely disassembled and the body was placed on a rotisserie. Every single nut & bolt was either refinished or replaced with original/NOS parts. Extensive photos of the restoration process verify that all original factory sheet metal was used, except for a partial trunk pan replacement, and outer quarter skins. These pieces were replaced with original 1970 parts from a donor car. The all steel body was massed to perfection and repainted in the correct FT6, Burnt Tan Metallic. The body on this Barracuda is a work of art, and is flawless in every way.
Every single piece of stainless steel was repaired, straightened and polished to absolute perfection. Every piece of chrome was redone, including the fog lamp bezels, bumpers, and driver's side mirror. The grille, grille surround, headlight bezels, tail light bezel and tail lamps are flawless & perfect. The new top is absolutely perfect!
To match the flawlessly restored exterior, the interior was done to perfection. The original bucket front seats and rear seats were reupholstered using the correct & original Tan Vinyl. New door panels, carpeting and headliner were installed as well. The steering wheel, dash pad, gauges and instrument cluster were properly restored. All interior chrome and stainless steel was properly refinished to show quality. The original center console and the original 4 Speed Pistol Grip shifter were restored and appear factory new.
The original factory glass was reused, and is in exceptional condition. The trunk has been expertly restored, with the correct, original jack refinished, and a correct spare present as well.
Also present are four brand new 15" Rallye Wheels with Center Caps & Trim Rings. Mounted to the wheel are four 15" reproduction Goodyear Polyglas tires.
The engine compartment in this rare Gran Coupe is a work of art. Present is a 383/335 HP N code engine, with a proper 09/69 date code. The engine was completely disassembled and rebuilt to stock specs, with the exception of a 750 Holley carburetor. Also present is the correct & original radiator, correct date coded components, and factory correct hoses, clamps and wiring.
Mated to the engine is the original A833 Manual 4 Speed Transmission. The original 8 3/4" axle is present, with a 3.23 Sure Grip, making this car a great cruiser at high speed, with the ability to nail the occasional hole-shot when the time is right.
In summary, this is one of the flat out nicest E Body restorations you will ever see in your life. This Gran Coupe has been driven less than 300 miles since the restoration was completed, and is ready for decades of show & go. In a world awash with high dollar Hemi cars and Hemi clone cars, when's the last time you actually saw someone DRIVING a rare, show quality E Body? This car can be inspected at our 17000 square foot facility in Mentor, Ohio, six days per week. For those of you who need to fly in, we can provide transportation to and from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. We can also provide accommodations within walking distance of our facility.
We can transport your vehicle to you in an enclosed carrier. Cost depends on mileage and location.
