Here is a nice 1976 Trans Am for sale. I have owned this car for the last 14 years and have driven it about 15,000 miles. I have never had a moments problem with this car except for one battery. It has always been garaged since I have owned it. Any work done to this car was done before I owned it. If you want to drive this car home I am sure you can, I know nothing mechanically wrong with it. It has set for so long it sure could use a nice long drive. The gas tank is mostly full but the gas is maybe 3 years old. It still starts and runs just fine. It still has the same tires on it as when I bought it. The tires are still in great shape.
It has been repainted and they tell me the bird on the hood is not the original that came from the factory. Also a guy told me it should have 400 on the shaker hood scoop instead of 6.6. The windshield has a crack. The trim above the windshield on the outside needs new keepers to put the chrome stip back on. The Chrome strip is in the back seat along with the mirror that needs glued onto the windshield. The driver side seat has some tears. The center console lid has some cracks. The air conditioner and cruise control does not work. The original 8 track tape player is still in it along with an am fm cassette tape player, I can't tell you even if they work or not. There is some rust, the worst by far is in each front corner of each door. Please look at the pictures, I tried to capture the worst defects on this car. The guy I bought it from said he put taller gears in the rear end and changed the linkage on the carburator so the 4-barrell would not open up. He wanted better gas milage but I think around 17 MPG was about the best I had ever seen. The previous owner had new exhaust put on it but the two chrome tips on each side do not extend down where you can see them like they should and they touch the rear panels and rattle at idle in gear. The exhaust just needs tweaked to extend them like they should be.
Please do not bid on this car if you are not interested in following through with the purchase. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding and not after the auction ends. If you are the winning bidder then you pay your bid price, not ask questions then decide if you want it or not. As you maybe can tell I have been down this road before and don't want to be there again. I encourage you to come inspect this car in person. I don't think you will be disappointed. I think it's a perfectly straight and simple car for resoration. This car is not perfect after all it's 32 years old. I have tried to describe everything I can think of that's wrong with it. Please look close at all pictures, ask all questions and come by to see for yourself if you can.
I would not be concerned to drive this car any where summer or winter. My only concern would be the air conditioner and cruise control. If those two items wouldn't bother you then you are set!
Good Luck and don't forget, if you have questions now is the time to ask, not after you bid or when the auction is over, thank you! |
