You are bidding on a 1980 PHS documented SE Trans Am that has had a ground up restoration. The underside has been thoroughly cleaned and detailed. The body was exceptionally solid as a starter. It has all the original sheet metal. There were no evident signs of this car ever being in a collision of any kind. The car has no patch panels. The trunk is solid as can be seen in the photos and the floor pans were solid as well. I do not have a trunk mat, t-top bags for it nor a space saver tire. It has been professionally painted with high quality correct starlite black color and then all decals were correctly applied and then three coats of clear coat were applied over the entire car. The wheels were stripped and refinished and top coated with clear and new tires mounted.
The interior has new high quality (and expensive) hobnail/lombardy seat covers and door panels from PUI, headliner, package tray, door sill plates, sound insulation and carpet. The interior plastics have been redyed the correct camel tan and are in good condition. The original dash has no cracks and has been redyed also. The dash has some minor waves on top which is typical for an original dash that is 28 years old but is other wise in very good condition. The dash bezel has been refurbished with the gold as well as the shifter plate. The steering wheel is new with gold spokes to match the dash. The car has a new Sony CD stereo system with brand new speakers. The new stereo face plate somehow does not display anything but all the lights work and Sony would not replace the face plate alone and wanted me to remove the radio and send it in for repair but after hours of hard labor to install this radio I wasn't taking it back out so just for honesty sake I want to let prospective buyers know the radio DOES work but there is no display on the flip down faceplate. The interior of the car looks brand new just like the exterior!
The original 301 turbo was removed and the car was upgraded to the popular 400 Pontiac Trans Am engine which is a 1973 model engine with 4X heads. The engine was compression checked and runs very strong with no problems. The inside of the engine was clean and appeared to have low mileage from a recent rebuild. The engine has a new starter, alternator, distributor, Holley 650 carb setting on an Edelbrock Performer intake, new fuel pump, air conditioning compressor (a/c has not yet been charged) and all new hoses and belts. The engne compartment was detailed and new correct decals were replaced. The radiator appeared to be be a new unit when I purchased the car. The transmission is the popular Turbo 350 and shifts well with no problems.
The car has 4 wheel disk brakes, new brake pads all the way around, 2 new calipers and brake dust shields to protect the refinished wheels. The rear end gearing is 3.08. This car does have the WS6 package and drives very tight.
A new heater core was installed while the car was disassembled to ensure no future problems.
The car was completely torn apart and inspected, body work done with many many hours of prep work to ensure a high quality finished product. The paint and detail on this car has brought many compliments from admirers. You'd have to personally see this car to truly appreciate the quality workmanship and detail. This car is a real head turner and draws a crowd at shows.
An added bonus to this car is I bought an original set of GOLD Y88 t-tops and installed them on the car which makes this car REALLY stand out. These gold tops on a black SE car is awesome! The t-tops alone cost me 600 bucks and that was the cheapest I could find a set for and these tops are in good condition.
This car has always been a NC car as can be seen on the PHC docs. The car was bought new at City Motor Company in Valdese which is approximately 15 miles from where the car now resides.
The mileage listed reflects the unknown actual mileage on the car. A refurbished instrument cluster was installed in this car and it reflects less than 1000 miles on the odometer since total restoration. This car has been restored back to its original beauty and now has the more sought after engine which is always better than the 301 Turbo. I chose to keep the car as original as possible, even keep the turbo hood and decals on it but give it better desirability by having the 400 engine in it which contributes more value overall.
I have tried my best to describe this car to the best and most honest of my ability. The photos do not do this car justice but they do give a good idea of how awesome this car really is.
