This is am amazing car. The engine was professionally rebuilt and NOT built in my garage. The mechanic that works on my BMW 850I and specializes in performance cars has rebuilt the engine but not recently, that was 10 years ago. Since that rebuild the car has 16928 miles on the rebuilt. It was also rebuilt the correct way, meaning it is no longer a 200hp heavy slow vehicle, dyno'd now at 450 hp. I have a huge list of upgrades done including taking out the Borg Warner and putting in a Richmond 5 speed with Long shifter. The car, in 5th gear, revs at 65mph at 2300 rpm instead of the rediculous and noisy 3500rmp which also consumes an amazing amount of gas. Read swapped and rebuilt to give you the 1-4 gear ratio of the much more grand mom Trans Am, with the 5th overdrive. This car has torque. I am now 51 years old so I baby it since it should now enjoy some relaxation as it's getting older also. Plus it's super valuable now.
Fresh paint 6 years ago also not by me, a professional who has since retired. The type of guy that didn't wear a mask when he painted. I seriously do not think he did. He was amazing. Has sub frame connectors to hold it stable. Crane 287 cam or was it 278, been so long I can't remember. I have all sorts of documentation that I will look for for every penny worth of work done to it. Honeycomb wheels, fresh decals from Phoenix Graphics which, if they still exist, are located in Tempe Arizona. This car was actually on the cover of one of their catalogs. New interior, seats fro Year One, carpet, Year one and the older steering wheel that lost it gold tint was replaced NOT by a repo but by an original NOS that cost me $400.00. Wheels are original but they could use a paint job, I did not have the paint shop do that, no idea why, was kind of dumb for me not to do that and now the shop has changed owners. I did upgrade the radio to a Sony MDX-REC which is a minidisc recorder unit. So, you can actually drive down the road and record songs off the radio as you drive. Also has an 8 changer CD player. Upgraded speakers.
Other upgrades were radiator, suspension, fuel pump. oil pump, coils, springs, and pistons, etc. Also bored 30 over. But I have defer to my mechanic and receipts. You can contact me via email davedarinkfnx@yahoo.com or call 480-236-2111 for any questions or for any more pics you need. I will be taking more pics and adding to the too few I am initially placing in the ad. I can also give you my mechanics number for an honest assessment of the car. He will not jeopardize his business by giving you inaccurate info. On Oct-31-09 at 19:41:51 PDT, seller added the following information:Also forgot to mention that this is a numbers matching car. On Nov-01-09 at 15:35:14 PST, seller added the following information:A friend who goes to almost every Scottdale car show recommended I put in the following:
I make every effort to represent the car as I see the car. However, the car is 33 years old and if you want a MINT, NEW, SHOWROOM car it is best to buy a car with 0 miles from the showroom floor. This car is in fabulous shape but it IS 33 years old. You should, if local, come see the car and test drive it, if you are not local but you have the means and vacation time to visit Phoenix, play some golf and see the car that is also an option. Also, there are services, one recommended by ebay is SGS. You pay them $99 they test drive the car, give feed back on the drive and the mechanics of the car and they take around 30 pictures of the car and send all of that to you so you can make a reasonable decision without you seeing the car. So, please note this car is excellent and in great shape for a car that IS 33 YEARS OLD. I am not going to say buyer beware but PLEASE buyer take care.
Also, consider this, if you want a ground up restoration of this car in absolute mint condition there are full restoration places that sell them, for example Year One sells their Bandit restoration but the price is in access of $125,000.00. The car you see here is over $100,000.00 less so PLEASE realize that this car is NOT by any stretch of the imagination a $125,000.00 restore that I am selling at an over $100,000.00 discount. So, please PLEASE realize that this is an "AS IS" car. A great car for a great price from a model that is no longer being made and now a car company that no longer exist. On Nov-04-09 at 09:55:14 PST, seller added the following information:Here is a little help for anyone who might be listing cars for sale on ebay at some point. Take it from me, do not put your personal email within the description. I did and I am getting at least 3 emails per day of people that appear to be attempting to defraud me. Things like, "if you don't sell the car contact me after", "please send me your full name and address". So, take my advice and do not put your email address in your auctions. Interesting that I did not get phone calls from anyone attempting to defraud me, I expected, after getting emails, that I would also get phone calls with blocked caller ID's. Did not get the problem with phone. ANyway, hope that helps anyone that might be thinking about putting up ebay car auctions. |
