You are bidding on a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. This is a PHS-documented, Martinique Blue, 4 speed, WS6 suspension, T-top car. I bought this car to replace another one I had like it and wanted to restore it, but I have too many projects at the moment & not enough time, space or money to do it the justice it deserves, so hopefully it will find a good home.
It would make a beautiful car when done. Great color combination, all the right options & quite solid to begin with...
It is quite loaded & left the Van Nuys factory with the following options:
-Air conditioning
-Custom color-keyed seat belts (light blue)
-Electric rear window defrost
-Soft Ray (tinted) glass, all
- T-tops
-Add'l acoustical insulation
-Lamp group
-Deluxe map/dome light
-Front & rear floor mats
-Window sill moldings
-Power door locks
-Power windows
-Radio accomadation package (radio delete)
-Tilt steering
-WS6 performance suspension
-Controlled cycle (intermittant) wipers
-Custom trim group (Lombardy velour cloth seats)
So, as you can see, it is loaded with a lot of great options, is a great color combination and it's a factory 4 speed car; doesn't get much better than that for a '78 (in my opinion).
Currently, the car is missing the Pontiac 400 engine, but DOES still retain the original, VIN-matching Super T-10 four speed trans. It appears to still have the factory rearend and WS6 suspension parts too. It comes with the transmission, the crossmember, driveshaft, air cleaner & a couple of engine pulleys. This is everything that I got with the car, but I do have some of the missing parts available at extra cost (such as a complete Pontiac 400, a shaker scoop, etc) if the new owner is interested as part of a "package deal".
Overall, the car is quite solid - the rear body panel, frame rails & trunk all look very good. The majority of the floors look solid too - just some rust-through in the front portions on each side that will need to be patched (from what I can tell). There are also some small areas on the car with rust-through in various spots that will need patches too, but this car is NOT a rust bucket.
The interior is in decent shape, but will need some work - see pics. Door panels are very good, seats are good, but dash is cracked & someone dyed the console black. I do have another light blue dash available at extra cost to winning bidder also.
