This car is not running. The engine is seized. It needs a rebuild or new engine. Solid body and chassis merit investment. 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 litre solid California car until 2006 when previous owner brought it to New Jersey and garaged it. I used it a few times until the engine seized, reason unknown. No rust in battery box or other typical areas. Some light surface rust in trunk and a small hole easily repaired. Repainted in original Lime Green Metalic including the targa top and rockers. Completely original car with all original smog, fuel injection etc. including seat covers (original plaid). Rides on 15" 911 Fuchs (have a 5th as spare). Bursch exhaust. Car came with stack of receipts dating back to 2000. Also, the ignition switch is non-functional. Starter is connected to a toggle under the dash. Porsche tail lense cover conceals rear deck lock which is attached to wire pull underneath rear bumper. Mileage is a guess. Odometer not working. On May-07-08 at 07:38:59 PDT, seller added the following information:A number of folks have asked about the nature of the engine seizing. I do not know why it seized. The car was running fine. I parked it in my driveway. The next day the engine would not turnover. There was oil in the engine. I can only assume that the engine was running hot for some reason unknown to me and seized at rest. Apologies for not knowing more. |
