This auction is for a 1982 PORSCHE 924. This is a true collector

car and does qualify for antique plates. This PORSCHE runs and

drives GREAT. It is really a quick and nimble vehicle. If you will take

the time to read this entire page I believe it will save time in the long

run. I will include everything I know about this car. If it is not

mentioned below then I dont know the answer. I am providing all

the information I have. This vehicle has a CLEAN open Florida title.

Slideshow:

http://s254.photobucket.com/albums/hh108/a2l1/Porsche/?albumview=slideshow

I have done some digging and this is the information I have come up with:

The 924 is lighter than the 944 and with some minor modifications/add ons it

will run with a 944 with no problems.

There were only 2277 imported to the US in 1982 that makes this a harder to find

and a desirable Porsche.

Guards red was on just a few of the 1982 that were imported. This is the original

color of this car and the floorboards/engine compartment will show that. Seems white

black, and grey were more popular colors.

I got the above "facts" from the internet and am assuming them to be true.

To the best of my knowledge this has always been a Florida car.

Here is the story I got when I bought this car. Please stay with me

during this long informative blurb. This car was purchased by a

father for his son. It was bought from the original owner. It was to

be for the boys 16th birthday. His "perfect" present. The father took

it to the "Porsche repair shop" and had the car "gone over".

Everything was checked and either repaired or replaced,

everything. It was then taken to a local shop and repainted. This is

not a high end paint job and the explanation was that daddy figured

the the boy just learning to drive would get his share share of

scrapes and bumps and it would receive a "proper" refinishing after

awhile. Anyway the son didnt want or even like the car. It sat in the

garage for a few years then was moved outside to reclaim the

garage space. During the outside storage the battery corrosion did

in fact "eat" through the battery box and actually ate through to the

interior and through the carpet and did some damage to the front

floorpan on the passenger side, minimal and easily repairable but

there is a hole there. Please see the slide show for all the photos.

After a period of outside storage it was put up for sale. It was

purchased by a gentleman that wanted to make it a driver and

"street racer". This person proceeded to remove the carpeting and

padding and was in the process of stripping it down when he had to

stop, money was all gone. It sat for another while then was sold. I

dont know if there were any other transactions between these

times.

The guy I got it from was going to "restore it" He proceeded to hand

sand some of the hood and fender, to remove the paint "blemishes".

He then covered this with spray can primer and since he wasnt

going to finish it for awhile, believe this, he waxed the primer to

protect it! Even offered me a couple of spray cans of red to finish it.

Anyway the battery box was repaired with fiberglass patch and is

holding. Personally I would weld a proper repair and do the floor at

the same time. Even at a weld shop this wont take long and will not

be very expensive at all. None of the parts that were removed, the

carpet and some of the rear belts, things of that nature are not

available. They were either misplaced or disposed of through the

transfers of ownership and are not included with this vehicle sale.

This car does not leak anywhere. The sunroof works properly and

does not leak, but the one latch lever keeps popping off. This

doesnt open the sunroof or unlatch it. It is just the "handle" part of

the latch. The power windows are fussy and will need

attention. I was told they were working, they arent working now. I dont

know if it is the contacts in the switches or the fuse/relay. I havent

checked. There is alot on the car that I havent checked but I am

pretty sure that there is nothing that is broken or not working.

                                                 UPDATE:
                                             Just tested ----

                               Winshielw wipers  WORKING
                               Blower motor for heater/etc  WORKING
                               A/C blower motor  WORKING
Headlights  WORKING  and go up and down fine
                               Turnsignals  WORKING
                               Hazard/warning lights  WORKING
                               Power mirrors  WORKING

When it was gone over for the birthday present it was rebuilt and it shows.

This car starts right up and runs like a Porsche should. It is really

really quick and pulls strong through all five gears. The clutch is

strong and has no chatter or slippage. All the gauges seem to

function properly. The steering is tight and very responsive and the

brakes work extremely well. Stopping was not a problem. I did

cheat a few times and ran this down the road even though it is

currently unregistered. This car runs, and runs really really great.

There is a problem with the idle but I am assuming that

with some runtime it will clear. It tends to idle rough and stumble

but the second you add the slightest pedal it clears right up and

runs fine. An idle adjustment would clear up everything

immediately. I have done no work on this car. The mileage is a

guess. The odometer currently shows 34,676. I would think this is

either true or real close because this is a tight car. In Florida the

mileage is excempt on any vehicle over 25 years old so I cannot

verify it against the title.

I am NOT a Porsche expert or even very knowlegeable about them.

I bought this to have a toy. My wife decided we really dont need the

speeding tickets that I would collect and I was too old for a "hot rod"

so I am selling this, she is actually right this time. This is a very fast

car and I would definately have a ticket collection going if I did keep

this.

Please be aware that this is not a show car and does need

some repair/replacement but it is primarily the interior. The

mechanics seem fine. I figure you can drive it all summer and

during the winter months this year replace the interior and refinish

the car. It would be a great car the following summer. You could

actually buy one of the "its not running but its probably something

minor", translation = needs a new motor and complete drivetrain,

cars here on ebay for a few hundred and have all the interior parts

you need for cheap.. That was my plan anyway.

There is not a dent or rust spot on this car. ALL panels align great. There is NO bondo or any type of body

repair. The primer spots are on a very good metal body. It was primered because the PO was sanding the

finish and did go to bare metal in a few spots. The rest of the primer is just spray can primer over the paint.

I guess it was for the "hot" look? In any case I just wanted to clarify there is no body damage or filler of any

kind anywhere there is spray primer.

Yes, this has the metal front air dam it is just not installed.

I believe it was removed in the spray primer stage. I any

case it comes with the vehicle and can be bolted on. There

is no significant damage to it, a minor dent or two.

All the glass is great. No cracks or scratches.

The rims are what came with the car when I got it. I was

told they are stock. They have not been polished or buffed

just washed. There is no or very minor curb damage as far

as I can tell.

Delivery by my is with a tow dolly. The tires are in good

condition and this should not be a factor. A trailer is possible

I believe. Contact me first.

I would have the vehicle towed. It is very drivable and I do

believe it would make it but because it has been sitting  for

most of its life I would have the car fully checked by a

qualified mechanic before a long drive. I would change all

the fluids for starters. This is my opinion, although I believe

the car is mechanically strong enough to make the drive I

would tow it and fully check it before any serious driving.

No I havent checked all the electrical, as I mentioned, but I

do believe it will be fine. Everything I used, aside from the

windows, worked fine.

Any other questions fell free to ask. I will answer to to the

best of my ability

I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CANCELLATION AND RELIST. EBAY WOULD NOT LET ME CORRECT ERRORS IN THE LISTING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING
