1968 Shelby GT 500 KR ( King of the Road )
I am helping a friend of mine sell this fine automobile. He currently has too many client projects to "complete his own". He has decided to let someone else finish and enjoy this "real deal" Shelby. I will give you a very honest description of the car and if you have questions, you may pass them on to me ,or call the owner himself. He is a master mechanic, and restoration specialist. He will be happy to give you the honest low down. There is nothing to hide here.
Statistics: 68 GT 500 KR 428 Cobra Jet Engine 4 Speed Top Loader Transmission 9" rear with 3.50 Ford "Traction Lock" differential Staggered Rear Shocks The block, heads, intake manifold, bell housing, transmission, and rear differential are all numbers matching, and original to the car. The car runs and drives well just as you see it. It is titled, tagged and insured in the State of Maryland as" Historic " The car is mostly stored and driven very sparingly. Much of the original interior is intact and in good condition. The steering wheel, radio, oil pressure guage, and shifter have been replaced. The engine compartment is missing, smog equipment, correct air cleaner, S Tube, starter delay, and the carburator is not original to this engine. The owner has aquired all of the correct parts and pieces for the interior as well as the engine compartment with the exception of the shifter, carb, and starter delay. All aquired items will go with the car if reserve is met! The original color of this car was Lime Green Metalic, with black deluxe interior. A full Marti Report goes with the car as documentation of originality. The original quarter panels were modified in the 70's as many people were apt to do at that time. The body work was well done. The hood, deck lid, and related fiberglass items are original to the car and in very good condition. The air conditioning is not factory, but is a dealer installed unit. All of the sheet metal from the firewall forward was replaced at some time and is not original to the car. We do not know why. The car needs TLC, but would not take much to be a very nice and reliable driver. If you want perfection, then you would most likely want to do a full restoration. The car is very worthy of that if you so choose. That investment "would pay dividends" The car is violently powerful. "Get the neighbors and kids off the sidewalks with this one" The owner is a Ford Lover and has had numerous Mustangs and Shelby's. He says once you own a KR you can not go back. The car is being sold at a reasonable reserve, and in consideration of the fact that we know you will want to do restoration work on it. This car can easily be worth 125,000 dollars. The reserve is considerably less, and if you want to make a legitimate offer, please do so and it will be considered. The car is for sale to "sell". We need to free up space and complete client projects for now. Our loss is certainly a Shelby lovers gain. Call the owner John at 410-206-4203 on his cell with any questions you may have. Inspections of the car during the auction are welcomed by appointment. If you need help with shipping this car, I can give good advise, and help make that happen for you reasonably. Thank you for your consideration and Happy Motoring!!
