1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. This is a great example of a classic original FJ40. This FJ is original paint, mostly stock and un-molested. I’m an avid FJ40 collector, this is the type of FJ40 I search for. I look at maybe 20 FJ40’s and buy 1. Finding them original paint and mostly stock is getting very hard to come by. I’ve been selling off most of my collection lately to pay off an investment opportunity. This is the last stock original I have for sale. This FJ40 can be enjoyed right now as is, but is the perfect candidate for a restoration if desired. Original owner’s manual and jack included.
Body
Original paint. No bondo, wrecks, serious rust, covered up damage. All the sheet metal is from 1974. The tub is near perfect. All the doors are near perfect, open and shut great, line up great. There all some small spots of rust, easily fixed by any body man, but should be mentioned in an eBay auction. This FJ40 is extremely solid in the top 5% of these years non-rusty wise. Your body man would be elated to start with a classic vehicle like this. Most FJ40's for sale on eBay have piles of bondo and a cheap MAACO paint job to sell easier. I prefer so sell it original, you know what you are buying.
Mechanical
The engine was just completely rebuilt. Has maybe 700 miles on it, runs perfect, no smoke. I added a Weber carburetor to this as they are electric choke and run so much better than the stock unit. This FJ40 is factory 4 speed. Very important, as the old 3 speeds are non-syncro, so you have to stop in the 3 speeds to hit 1st gear. New clutch at engine rebuild. The brakes have been all gone through, cylinders replaced, stops very nice, no sponge in the pedal. Runs, drives, stops nice. I just put in a new battery.
A stock FJ40 is a great toy and keeping is mostly stock like this helps it appreciate in value. This is a great one to drive and upgrade at the same time. If you would like any specific pictures or have more questions please ask. I have a clear clean WA state title to this in hand. If you are less than 400 miles away (no trips to Canada) I will deliver it on my flat bed trailer for $1.50 per loaded mile. At $4.59 diesel prices I have to charge for that, but will provide that service if you are unable to do it. I will also help in coordinating shipping. I can get 10 trucking quotes. Vehicle must be paid for in full before I will let it go off my property. I prefer cash in person, but will also take a wire transfer or bank cashiers check. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 2 days closed auction, the remainder within 7 days.
