I Need To Note This Before Listing The Description: This FJ40 Is ONLY Being Sold Because We Purchased Property Out Of State And I Agreed With The Wife To Sell All Of The Toys To Make This Possible.
I purchased this Fine Land Cruiser several months ago with a goal of doing a little work to it, then using it for my 2nd vehicle for back country use. Nothing Beats a Land Cruiser Out In the Rough Terrain!
When I had the FJ40 hauled in from a neighboring state I immediately sent it to a local mechanic to have it checked over and repair all items that needed repaired or replaced. I was basically going to build it into a new vehicle. The mechanic checked out the transmission, engine and four wheel drive system and said they were sound.
I had him start replacing anything under the hood that looked used or needed replaced.
The following items were replaced with new or rebuilt under the hood:
All rubber hoses were replaced, carburetor was completely rebuilt, frayed wiring was replaced, spark plug wires replaced, distributor was rebuilt, distributor cap & points replaced, alternator was replaced, oil changed and oil filter replaced, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, other gaskets replaced and the engine and complete engine compartment were steam cleaned. The aluminum covers under the hood were restored by anodizing so they are back to their natural "new" look and the engine has been repainted.
After this had been completed I checked with the shop to see how much I owed them and to my shock I was told there was a bill owing of $2152. This is where the shop and I parted ways. I paid the bill then I have parked the vehicle in my garage while waiting to get time to do a couple more items before I sent the FJ in to be painted which has not happened.
I have driven it once to the car wash which is 3 miles way from my garage just to get it cleaned up for this auction. The speed limit was 45 miles per hour but it seems to run very strong. It makes me sick to sell the Cruiser.
I have noticed that there must be a fuse out for the three dash gauges since they do not work. The speedometer works fine. I do not know if the CB radio works or not. There are two small rock chips in the windshield that have been repaired and other than that the glass looks perfect. All of the seats and door panels had just been recovered before I purchased the vehicle. The previous owner also installed an exhaust header for additional output of the original 2B motor. The tires are Wild Country Radial RVT 32 X 11.50 R15's and appear to be 80- 85% tread left. There is the factory roll cage in the vehicle. It also has the two rear jump seats as well as the rear heater that you can see in the pictures. The after market air cleaner was removed for the pictures.
I am not sure of the mileage since I have not owned this since new. I was told it had just passed the 100,000 once to 13289 miles but the title says exempt which is common on any older vehicle. I can not guaranty actual miles.
The body is in good condition and the paint is fair to good. There is rust at the bottom of the drivers door and passenger door where the FJ40's commonly get rust. There is one small rust area the size of a dollar in the floor next to the driver seat that needs a small section of metal replaced. This is a pretty simple procedure for a body shop. The two rear doors also have rust at the bottom of them, as 99% of them do.
I searched and purchased two front doors that have been soda blasted to replace the two front doors since this would be a little easier than repairing the ones on the vehicle. These two doors are going to be listed about an hour or so after this auction ends on eBay so the winning bidder can bid on them if they want to.
The two rear doors on the vehicle can be repaired by a body shop or by purchasing lower door sections from the Land cruiser parts people. The winning bidder can also bid on the two clean used back doors that I had purchased which I will be listing tomorrow night on eBay.
Here is a chance for someone to have that Superb FJ40 that you have always wanted at a reasonable price with out spending that $16,000 - $24,000 the painted and restored FJ40 Land Cruisers are bringing now.
As any older vehicle this is sold as-is with no guarantees implied or otherwise. The buyer accepts all responsibilities for purchasing the vehicle. I can not describe much more than is told in this description since I am not a mechanic so if need be you can take a trip and come to see it. We are in Twin Falls Idaho.

You should be able to get this hauled reasonably through uShip. I saved a lot of money there on shipping.
Have fun bidding! There are very few of these left that are not absolute junk.
