1964 VW BEETLE ~ BUG
Overall, this car is well worthy of a restoration....
which, is what our plan was for it .... but as they say,
life got in the way - and we just never got around to it.
We are downsizing, and soon, we will no longer have a place to [economically] store it.
It was originally purchased for our daughter in July of 1998, who did actually drive it back and forth to school and work for the first two summers we owned it.
Here she is.....the first day she waxed it & was taking it out for a spin! ......She's just going to kill me for including these old pics !

But, it's been undriven, and stored since then.
So.....here it is now......

We used to start it now and then, but the battery gave up in '06 and we've never replaced it. The car is not actually running at this time, but we think with a new battery it would probably start.....the motor does turn over. We think the gas may have to be removed - it's still got a 1/4" tank of vintage gasoline.
The engine is a '71 1600cc Dual Port.
Electrical system is 12 volt.
The starter, carburator, fuel pump, cap/points and tires, all have less than about 500 miles on them.
The main problem with the car, which is actually common for these vehicles (in this area), is that the floor pan and heater channels are badly rusted.
Remarkably, the interior is in pretty good condition as you can see in the pictures. The outside color is sort of a gunmetal gray~ish blue.
All the window glass is intact, and works properly.
The driver's side outside door handle button is stuck; but the inside handle works fine.
The tires are in good shape, not dried out or rotted, and we think the car should be able to be safely towed.
