You are bidding on a 1962 Volkswagen Single Cab. Own an “easy on gasoline” vehicle that gets everyone’s attention!! This Single Cab is originally from southern Tennessee having been only North (in Kentucky) since 2004. The paint is relatively new and was put on over wire brushed and primer areas and painted black just to keep it stable until I could start the body work repairs. This vehicle shows its age in some areas such as the bottom of body panels and in the drop down side panels but all are repairable. There is some old bondo repair to the front that needs to be removed and professionally redone. The engine starts immediately. If you have a business you would like to promote, this is the vehicle for you. You can have your business name printed on the side and everyone will remember the unique advertising. This Single Cab split windshield draws the most attention from any other vehicle I have ever owned. I am selling due to my son’s college tuition coming due soon and completion of our international adoption from China (both very expensive!!!). You won't find very many of these VWs out there that you can complete the way you want it.
The 1975 dated 1600 cc engine is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. It has four new tires (plus new spare tire) and also the brakes and master brake cylinder were replaced less than 500 miles ago. The inside of the cab is almost completely restored with a new seat. Dash is completed with new wrinkle type black paint and looks sharp!!! Even complete with (rare) radio delete plate in place. I have new door panels that go with the vehicle that were never installed. Inside parcel tray was not restored/placed back under dash but I still have it if the new owner wants it. New rubber around all the glass was installed and around the doors so it closes up tight. Anything and everything electrical is working on the vehicle. I started working on the body work and other projects seem to place this vehicle at the back burner. The front bumper is sitting in my garage and was removed for ease of doing the body work. If you have any questions please ask and if you want more specific photos taken--be sure to provide me with an email address so I can send them to you. This has been a really dependable vehicle and I would not hesitate to take a trek across country in it—that is once it is tuned up again. The motor is very dependable and has never failed to start even on very cold days. It ran excellent up to this summer when I let it set for several months and now it will not idle without some foot action on the gas pedal…I suspect the sitting has caused some varnish in the carburetor from the old gasoline being the culprit. For this reason I recommend the vehicle be towed home until it is tuned and made interstate ready. The locks for the outside hatches (behind the doors and the motor area) are missing but can probably be found in any VW catalog in a reasonable price range. No heat for this beast and simple J-pipes are installed. The original heat pipe system from the back to the cab area is still there but plugged to keep critters out. New battery installed in 2007. When I originally got the Single Cab I put a new carburetor on it and had new plugs and plug wires installed. This is a great candidate for completing the restoration I have started. You can fix the body panels while you drive it. As any collector of VWs knows this is a very collectable piece and can command upwards of $15,000 in restored condition. I have quite a lot invested in the Single Cab already but my reserve is much less than the Low Retail. This is latest NADA report I ran on a 1962 Single Cab:

When I list a vehicle I try to be very specific, but I can't get everything. If you have any questions PLEASE ask them BEFORE you bid. Send me your email and specific photo requests and I will get them to you as soon as I can but note that I only check email once a day usually in the late evenings.
Deposit is $200 (non refundable) and due within 24 hours of close of auction via PAYPAL Only. Balance due in CASH Only within 7 days total. If you had planned on paying in full when you get here this auction is not for you so be sure you understand this before you bid. Deposit must be made and received before you get into your truck and make the trip to pick up. That is my rule. So understand this before you bid. This is to identify deadbeats early on in who think it is OK to bid and not follow through or someone who thinks the winning bid price is only a starting price, is negotiable, or a chance to look and then decide to purchase. It is not. FOLLOW THE RULES OR DO NOT BID! Car can be inspected before auction ends by appointment. Sorry for the hard line but there is a lot of bidders on eBay who don't take a seller’s circumstances into consideration. The $200 is to cover my listing costs, time lost and headache from both if I happen to get one of these bidders. The Buyer is responsible for all shipping and arrangements. This vehicle can be inspected at my home which is 12 miles from Berea, Kentucky. Do not plan to be the winner for the chance to look. I do not have time for games and the many that play them. The vehicle will need to be removed within the next two weeks.
Seller reserves the right to end auction early as vehicle is listed for sale locally.
