| This is a very reliable Volvo 240. I got another car given to me so this one must go. These cars are famous for life up to 400k and beyond. I've owned it for two years and have been very happy with it. It uses no oil and the transmission shifts smoothly in all gears. The previous owners left a stack of maintenance records in the glove box. As shown in the picture, all tires have great tread except one. I took it to Sears for an alignment and they didn't set the camber because "that's factory set." Now one of the tires is more worn than the others but still well over half tread.I am not sure of the exact mileage because the odometer was not functioning when I bought it. I replaced the little plastic gear and have put another 40K on it since then. I would estimate the car has about 260k + miles.I replaced the timing belt and water pump at 200,300 miles, the idle motor and in-tank fuel pump a year ago (the old pre-pump was still working... it turned out to be the hose connecting it was bad when I got it apart... put the new pump in anyway). Defects:There is evidence of a minor wreck based on a hood and radiator support that are painted gold. I replaced the A/C compressor ($900 at a local shop), but the freon has leaked out over the winter. There is minor rust on the rear quarter panels, the clear coat is failing in places, the dash has cracks (you can buy a cover that installs easily), and there is general 20-year-old-car-wear. I would have no worries about driving it across country as it frequently takes me on both long and short trips.THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS AND HAS NO WARRANTY NEITHER WRITTEN NOR IMPLIED.
