This is an Mitsubishi produced CJ3B Jeep  WE indicated it was a 1956 because Ebay would not accecp VIN#  &  this is the era of these Jeep manufactured  in the US. No misrepresentation intended.

Mitsubishi bought the rights to produce the exact Military version M38A1 Jeeps back in the 1950's

There are identical other than some major improvements.

Differences are Mitsubishi installed there 2760cc 4 cylinder Diesel Engine & put in a 4 speed transmission.

The most famous machine -- land, sea or air -- to come out of the Second World War was undoubtedly the ubiquitous Jeep, a sturdy little go-anywhere, four-wheel-drive, quarter-ton utility vehicle. Designed and built by Willys-Overland and Ford, the latter under licence, some 600,000 were produced by the time the war ended.

Willys-Overland replaced the olive drab military colour with brighter hues and traded the guns, shovels and axes for equipment such as snowplows and post-hole diggers, marketing the Jeep CJ (Civilian Jeep) as a multi-purpose machine.

But, while Willys-Overland of Toledo, Ohio, prospered greatly making military Jeeps, it was concerned about what it would do after the war. Its prewar cars were considered unsuitable for the postwar market, so Willys decided to cash in on the Jeep's outstanding reputation with a civilian version.

The CJ arrived in 1945, with production starting soon after the war ended.

It was aimed at such markets as farming, utility companies and service stations, and it was also expected to appeal to sports people and off-road enthusiasts yearning to escape it all.

Sales of this military model converted for civilian use encouraged Willys to expand its lineup. It added the popular Jeep all-steel station wagon in 1946, followed by pickup and panel trucks in 1947. The Jeepster came in 1948.

The Jeepster (the name is a combination of Jeep and roadster) was the most glamorous Jeep of them all, a kind of early post-Second World War American sports car. Technically a phaeton (the last American one offered), most simply referred to it as a four-passenger convertible. Its cut-down doors, folding top, side curtains and attractive colours gave it a jaunty air, marrying the spirit of the Jeep with the romance of the convertible.

The Jeepster had been conceived during the war when the fate of the Jeep was being considered and visions of civilian versions were beginning to emerge.

Production of the original Jeepster ceased in 1950, although a few were sold as 1951 models. Total sales for its three-year run were just more than 19,000 -- not enough to convince Willys-Overland to continue production.

There were other priorities as well. The company had resumed building military Jeeps for the Korean War, which took up plant capacity, and preparations were underway for re-entry into the passenger car market.

The Jeepster was revived in late 1966 by the Kaiser-Jeep Corp., Willys-Overland having been acquired by the Kaiser Corp. in 1953. By this time, however, other sport-utility vehicles such as the Ford Bronco had come on the scene and the second-generation Jeepster no longer enjoyed its unique status.

That first Jeepster was an interesting little chapter in Jeep history. Its sporty nature probably helped pave the way in North America for the English MG, Austin-Healey and Triumph sports cars that would soon begin arriving in large quantities.

They are right hand drive. (Can be converted) Other than that most other parts interchange.

This Jeep is equipped with aftermarket  all weather tires, aluminum mag wheels, original seats, headliner panels are in very good condition if not excellant, all original. Factory spare still has clear wrapping on it. Passengers visor still has factory protective plastic on it. Small tears in rear seat rear in cargo area, other wise interior is exceptional condition. This is an exceptionally clean & original vehicle. No restore yet, none needed other than paint is poor quality & it has a fiberglass hood, steel ones are available.

It has High/Low 4x4 & 4x2 Tranny & Transfer case.

We have been completely thru this Jeep & found it to be in excellent mechanical condition.  With absolutly No Rust.Everything one the frame & body is in excellant condition

 The engine will out perform even a 6 cylinder & even  V-8’S in most any terrain.

It has a throttle set for climbing the steepest grades with ease & no bouncing accelerator pedal.

Diesel engine means long life, depenability &  excellant braking desending the steepest of grades.

 Has a posi-trac rear end.

Fuel economy is exceptional.  (Approx. 25-30 MPG 2x2)  (In 4x4 & extreme conditions less)

24v system.

Pre-Heat standard.

Willys required there Logo to be on all of them. Other than the Engine & Tranny you cannot tell them apart.

These will last past your Grandchildren. 

They will simply out perform any Jeep you are currently familiar with Off-Road & Make Fantastic Crawlers (Fuel Injected Diesel) This one belongs with a collector or an excellant street rod build

With an all original steel truck with the exception of the hood & they are available you will unlikely ever find one in this good of condition that is not well overpriced. Very drivable & reliable right off the lot
