| Up for auction today, is a 1953 Chevrolet one ton, canopy express. This truck is an extrememly rare peice of chevrolet history. i've only seen one other 1953 one ton canopy. in 1953 there were only around 400 canopys made. more than half of those were half tons. this truck is in all original condition. it has the hard to find flip down drivers seat. it has a 216 engine manual trans. the truck is very solid running boards are very solid doors operate well. this truck now has a peice of sheet metal on the floor this must have been a patch job by the previous owner.may need front floor board toe board and kick panels. other than that, the rest of the truck is very solid.There appears to be some rust around the rear fenders but i have not removed them to see how bad. the truck does not run but does turn over when i put a battery in it i am sure it could run easily with a little tlc. all the dash lights worked and the head lights work even the brights. rear tail light does not work. brakes are to the floor cab partition was removed by previous owner but is laying in back of truck and easily could be put back as it only bolts in. i have the original side canopys but they were destroyed in a wind storm .all the original lift the dot fasteners are there i do not have a title for this truck but one could be easily obtained through international title service for 150 dollars but that would be up to the buyer. i will provide a bill of sale.please check pics and ask questions. thanks for looking.
On May-03-08 at 10:52:16 PDT, seller added the following information:i do have a key for this truck and i beleive the 4th original rim is in back of the truck.i also have all 4 original hubcaps. the mileage above is incorrect .i will add correct mileage soon . the 36000 miles was a mistake
On May-06-08 at 21:23:46 PDT, seller added the following information:the actual milage reads 66864.2. the rear pan on this truck is very solid with only surface rust.the bed wood is also original to my knowledge and also pretty solid. the tailgate operates well. no rear tarp. bid to win we have almost reached the reserve. thanks more pics to come

On May-10-08 at 19:29:24 PDT, seller added the following information:just wanted to add that this truck does need complete restoration. everything is there.this truck does have some surface rust inside, outside, and underneath, but still is very solid and very restorable. the bed wood is old and dry but fairly solid, but most of the runners are rusted away. when i put a battery in last year, it did turn over and all the lights worked. the drivers window is off the track and loose in the door. this is a very rare and cool old truck that will always draw attention and i dont think you will see one like it very often. i saw one restored sell for $54,000 on a tv auction show |
